Chinese New Year

Announcements (Thu, 12 Jan 2017)

1) As part of our effort to upgrade the facilities of SJBA Vihara to provide better environment and support services for our members and devotees, in addition to building the new block, the following places will be renovated on the dates as follows:
Kitchen: 15/12/16 to 10/3/17
Office, Library, Airwell area: 10/1/17 to 10/3/17
Please note that TCM, Metta and Vipassana Meditation, Yoga, Longevitology sessions in the respective Hall or rooms or Airwell Area will need to be temporarily closed during the above periods.
Other activities will go on as usual, eg. our regular Sunday Puja Service (English), New & Full Moon Chanting & Vegetarian Lunch, Breakfast & Lunch Dana for Monks and other activities using the Shrine Hall (no renovation in Shrine Hall except some cabling works, video system upgrade and relocating the sound system to the left).
2) On this Chinese New Year Eve (27 January 2017) , SJBA’s Resident Monk, Venerable Indarathana will conduct a New Year Blessings for devotees at our Shrine Hall at 11pm. On the first day of Chinese New Year (28 January 2017) Ven. Indarathana will conduct New Year Blessings at 10am followed by lunch dana at 11am, and then another New Year Blessings Session at 12.30pm. If you wish to partake in this auspicious blessing service for a better year ahead, abundantly blessed, do come and join us.
In view of the ongoing construction and renovation works going on in SJBA Vihara, we have decided not to organise our annual Gong Xi Gong Xi Dinner in SJBA this year (earlier scheduled on 11 February 2017).
SJBA Youth Section members together with some Dhamma School children will be making house calls on 12 February 2017 to bring Chinese New Year greetings and songs, Buddhist hymns and good wishes to the hosts and family. Those who wish to invite them to your homes on 12 February 2017 can book through Sis Lily or Sis Cindy at Tel. 03-56348181 or 03-56315299.
3) This Sunday Puja (15/1/17, 9.30am) will be led by Ven. Indarathana followed by a short meditation and Dhamma Talk. Venerable Indarathana was ordained as a novice monk at age 11 in Sri Lanka. After 10 years of monastic education and training at Sri Medankara Bhikku training Center, he received higher ordination as a fully ordained monk in 2007. He holds a Master degree in Buddhism at Kelaniya University and Bachelor degree of Law at University of Colombo. He is currently pursuing his masters of counseling at HELP University, Kuala Lumpur. He has been living in Malaysia since 2012 under the guidance of Chief Reverend Saranankara Maha Thera at Sentul Sri Lanka Buddhist temple. As a Buddhist monk, he taught meditation and mindfulness practices and give counselling to people from different walks of life using the Buddha’s teachings.

MPSJ Chinese New Year Celebrations in Putra Heights

MPSJ is organising a Chinese New Year Celebration this Saturday, 1st March 2014 and extends its invitation to Subang Jaya Residents to join in the Celebration.

Venue : Car Park / Pasar Tani (beside Bus Stand, Putra Point) Jalan Putra Mahkota 7/6A, Pusat Bandar Putra Heights
Date : 1st March 2014, Saturday
Time : 7pm to 10pm

The YDP MPSJ will grace the occasion and the event will be filled with numerous interesting performances and a free dinner.

image00141) Subang Jaya Buddhist Association cordially invite all members and devotees with relatives and friends to join us at our “Gong Xi, Gong Xi” Potluck dinner on 8th February 2014, 7.30pm-10.00pm, to celebrate the Chinese New Year together and promote fellowship as we enjoy the various program planned for the night together from some guests from the Old Folks Homes.

2) On 16th February 2014, our Sunday Dhamma School children, Youth Section and Teen Quest members will be making house calls to bring auspicious New Year greetings and songs, Buddhist hymns and good wishes to the hosts and family. Those who wish to invite them to your homes on 16th February 2014, may book through Sis. Lily at Tel. 03-56348181.

3) SJBA will organize another “Introduction to Buddhism Course” from 21 Feb to 11 Apr 2014 (every Friday), 8.30pm – 10.00pm at SJBA Shrine Hall, conducted by Uncle Vijaya, Bro Charlie Chia and Dr. Chan Kah Yein. All are welcome. For further information, please call Sis Lily at 03-56348181.

4) The Puja Sessions at SJBA (both English and Mandarin) will resume this Sunday, 9th February 2014.

5) This Sunday’s Dhamma Talk in Mandarin (at 11.30am) is on “Ten Meritorious Deeds – Part II” by Sis Wong Suh Chuen. Sis. Suh Chuen graduated with Bachelor of Science in Applied Science from TAR College and Masters in Technology (Environment Management) from University Malaya. She is an Environmental Consultant. She was the Dhammaduta Head of TAR College Buddhist Society and former Honorary Secretary of Kinrara Metta Buddhist Society (KMBS). Currently, Sis. Suh Chuen teaches Sunday Dhamma class for adults at KMBS.

6) This Sunday’s Dhamma Talk in English (at 10.00am) is on “Ancient Teaching, Modern Pratice” by Bro Tan Siang Chye. Bro. Siang Chye graduated from Kent Institute, UK and with a Master degree from Massey University, New Zealand. He was a former Chairman of the Buddhist Missionary Youth Section and also the parent body, BMSM for one session. He is a striving meditator and has practised under several prominent meditation teachers locally and in New Zealand. Bro. Siang Chye is currently the Chairman of the Dhamma Committee of SJBA.

黄淑娟居士毕业于拉曼学院, 持有 应用科学 学士学位及马来亚大学的科技(环境管理)硕士学位。她现今是一位环境顾问,注册于马来西亚环境部门。淑娟居士,出生于砂朥越州,在中学求学时,已开始学佛。她曾经是拉曼学院佛学会弘组主任和 Kinrara Metta Buddhist Society 的前任名誉秘书。目前,她志愿地为Kinrara Metta Buddhist Society 的成年人周日佛学班,分享佛法。

5) This morning’s (19th Jan 2014) Dhamma Talk will be given by Sayadaw U Rewata. Sayadaw U Rewata. Sayadaw U Rewata was born in 1955 in Thonse, Myanmar. He graduated in 1980 with Bachelor of Science at the Rangoon University. He was ordained in 1983. He followed Pariyatti and Patipatti under the guidance of Most Venerable Chanmyay Sayadaw U Janaka Bhivamsa. He has travelled widely to many countries like Japan, USA, Canada, India, etc for missionary work, teaching Metta Bhavana, Vipassana Bhavana, Suttanta Recitations, etc. He served as the Abbot in Hmawbi, Yangon in 2004 to 2006, and also has been the Abbot of the Satipatthana Vipassana Association, Springfield, USA. Sayadaw U Rewata is currently in Subang Jaya Buddhist Association to support its Dhamma missionary work
