image00141) This year is the 11th anniversary of the Educare Program in SJBA. For the last 10 years, we have been providing needy students with school items to start the new school term. It is expected that about 500 needy students will receive the school items on 4 December 2016. Each student will receive a full set of school items which consist of school bags, shoes, books, stationary, etc costing about RM108. The amount may not be a lot but it is a simple yet significant gesture to show our care and concern to the poor students. We hope that through this simple by sincere gesture, the students are motivated to study better and achieve academic success and eventually success in life. The Retreat will be conducted by Sayadaw U Pyinnyarnanda from Chanmyay Yeiktha Meditation Centre, assisted by our Abbot, Ven. Nyanaramsi. 3) SJBA is organising a 28 Buddha’s Puja Ceremony on 7 January 2017, 6pm to 9pm, which will give everyone the opportunity to make individual offerings to all 28 past Buddha who appeared before (and include) the present Buddha, Gautama Buddha. This great ceremony invokes one’s affinity with the infinite virtues of Buddha’s by reciting and recollecting the 28 Buddha’s names and virtues. This brings great blessings for the people who partake in the Ceremony. Recollection of the Buddha’s virtues help purify one’s mind and may even lead one to the attainment of enlightenment.
Traditionally this 28 Buddha’s Puja is performed to bring longevity, beauty, good health, happiness, prosperity, unity and harmony of family as well as success in one’s career or business and excellence in children’s education. For more information, please contact Sis Lily at 03-56348181.
4) The Wednesday’s night of Spiritual Cultivation will be off for 5 weeks and will resume on 14 December 2016.
5) This Sunday’s Dhamma Talk (10am, 13 November, 2016) will be given by Bro Tan Siang Chye. Bro. Siang Chye graduated from Kent Institute, UK and with a Master degree from Massey University, New Zealand. He was a former Chairman of SJBA Dhamma Committee. He is a striving meditator and has practised under several prominent meditation teachers locally and in New Zealand.

5) The title of this Sunday’s Dhamma Talk is “Living to benefit” by Bro Ong Beng Chung. Bro Beng Chung is the Founder of SJBA Youth Section in 1993. He was the former President of UKM Buddhist Fellowship. He sees himself as a person who loves simplicity and clarity in all areas of life. When he’s in the right mode, he prefers to explore the mind in meditation retreats and in daily life through Awareness. Meditation to him, is mental cultivation, as a tool in exploring the mind to realise Realities and eventually, the Unconditioned, as taught by the Buddha.

image0014(1) This year’s Kathina Ceremony will be held this Sunday, 30th October 2016. Kathina is, traditionally, a Buddhist Ceremony started by the Buddha Himself for lay devotees to offer robes and other requisites to the Sangha at the end of the 3-month Vassa.
The Ceremony will begin on Kathina Eve (29thOctober 2016) with Taking The Three Refuges & Five Precepts administered by the Sangha at 7.30pm followed by Dhamma Talk, Procession, Blessings by the Sangha and Sharing of Merits. This year’s Procession will be very significant with the inclusion of Buddha Relic and ola-leaves Tipitaka in the procession.
On Kathina Day, the Ceremony will commence at 8.30am with the Taking of the Three Refuges and Observance of the Five Precepts administered by the Sangha, followed by Offering the Kathina Robe, offering of Robes and other Requisites, Sharing of Merits and Lunch Dana. A blood donation campaign will also be held on this auspicious day. Please come and join us to perform these meritorious deeds together.

(4) This Sunday Puja (16/10/16, 9.30am) will be led by Ven. Indarathana followed by a short meditation and Dhamma Talk. Venerable Indarathana was ordained as a novice monk at age 11 in Sri Lanka. After 10 years of monastic education and training at Sri Medankara Bhikku training Center, he received higher ordination as a fully ordained monk in 2007. He holds a Master degree in Buddhism at Kelaniya University and Bachelor degree of Law at University of Colombo. He is currently pursuing his masters of counseling at HELP University, Kuala Lumpur. He has been living in Malaysia since 2012 under the guidance of Chief Reverend Saranankara Maha Thera at Sentul Sri Lanka Buddhist temple. As a Buddhist monk, he taught meditation and mindfulness practices and give counselling to people from different walks of life using the Buddha’s teachings

Nyanaramsi was an accountant before he was ordained as Bhikkhu in 1995 at Chanmyay Yeiktha Meditation Centre, practicing under Sayadaw U Janakabhivamsa for a total of 9 years. Ven. Nyanaramsi was giving various support for foreign meditators in the Centre before accepting Subang Jaya Buddhist Association’s invitation to come back in 2003 to teach the Malaysian Buddhists. He travels frequently to other countries like Indonesia, Taiwan, Thailand, China, etc to teach meditation.

6) This Sunday (29 November 2015) Dhamma Talk is on “Understanding the Essence of the Buddha’s Teaching” by Bro Teoh Kian Koon. Bro. Teoh Kian Koon graduated from University of Malaya in Civil Engineering in 1979. He had been a spiritual practitioner cum ‘Meditator’ since 1971. Since his retirement in 2001 from his engineering career, he has been sharing his understanding and experiences with all who are keen in the search for true happiness, peace and liberation from birth and death and all mental suffering to become a more virtuous, noble and wiser human being. He gives talks and hold meditation and Dhamma classes at various meditation centres.
