image00141) SJBA will be organizing the Introduction to Buddhism course from 6 March
to 24 April 2015. The course will run for 8 consecutive Fridays from 8.30pm
to 10.00pm and will be conducted by Uncle Vijaya, Dr. Chan Kah Yein and
Datuk Charlie Chia. All are welcome. No pre-registration is required. Please
contact Sis Lily at 03-56348181 for further details.

2) SJBA cordially invite all members and devotees, relatives and friends to join
our “Gong Xi, Gong Xi” Potluck dinner on 28 January 2015 to celebrate the
Chinese New Year and promote fellowship as we enjoy the various program
planned for the night together. You may bring along some food to share with
others and give angpows to the old folks from the Old Folks Home.

3) This Sunday’s Dhamma Talk in English (1 Feb, 10.00am) is on
“Neuroscience and Buddhist Meditation” by Bro Mui Han. Bro Mui Han has
been active in Buddhism since his school days. He was a former President of
St. John’s Institution Buddhist Society KL, former EDSG Director in
Persatuan Buddhis UPM (PBUPM), former committee member of Nalanda
Buddhist Society, former Committee Member of Buddhist Missionary
Society Malaysia (BMSM) Youth Section and former member of Aloka
Foundation Management Committee. Mui Han also co-founded a Buddhist
youth group that was later formalized to be known as Dhammaduta Youth
(D2Y). D2Y have been running annual year-end Buddhist camps for
secondary school students since 1998 till today.

4) This Sunday’s Dhamma Talk in Mandarin (1 Feb, 11.30am) is on
“Inspirational Stories” by Sis Tan Yee Yong. Sis Tan Yee Yong graduated
with Bachelor of Science in Computer Sience and MBA. She obtained MA in
Buddhist Studies from IBC, Thailand. She is now a Dhamma committee
member of SJBA. 这个星期日的讲题是” 人生小故事”, 讲师是陈玉容居士.
玉容居士持有科学学士学位及商业硕士学位,在商业界工作。她曾经是我
们首邦再也佛教会青年组主席,及佛法小组组长 ,在学佛路上, 她持有佛
教文凭及国际佛教大学佛教研究文科硕士 。目前她是我们首邦再也佛教会
佛法委会小组成员.

2) This Sunday’s (25/1/15, 10am) Dhamma Talk is on “Buddhism – A Humanistic Religion”, exploring how Buddhism as a Humanistic Religion differs from the Theistic Religions. The Speaker, Bro. Billy Tan is a Professional Trainer and Business Development Consultant who has trained countless corporate executives and business professionals in more than 20 countries over the past three decades. Bro. Billy is a Certified Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), as well as being certified by the International Association of Counselors and Therapists, USA, in Clinical Hypnotherapy. In recent years Bro. Billy has conducted several professional training programs for resident and visiting Monks at the Buddhist Maha Vihara, Brickfields, in the areas of Emotional Intelligence, Communication, Professional Presentation, Public Relations, Community Services, Leadership, and Management. In sharing the Dhamma, Bro. Billy researches discoveries from the fields of Neuroscience and Psychology to present teachings of the Buddha from a scientific perspective

image0014This Sunday’s Dhamma Talk is on “Understanding Life, its Purpose and Meaning” by Bro Teoh Kian Koon. Bro. Teoh Kian Koon graduated from University of Malaya in Civil Engineering in 1979. He had been a spiritual practitioner cum ‘Meditator’ since 1971. Since his retirement in 2001 from his engineering career, he has been sharing his understanding and experiences with all who are keen in the search for true happiness, peace and liberation from birth and death and all mental suffering to become a more virtuous, noble and wiser human being. He gives talks and hold meditation and Dhamma classes at various meditation centres.

image00141) SJBA’s Sunday Dhamma School (SDS) 2015 is open for student registration, online, effective 1 Nov 2014. The Buddhist classes will be conducted in three (3) sessions, as follows:
Session A: 9.00am to 10.30am

Session B: 10.30am to 12.00pm

Session C: 12.00pm to 1.30pm

Classes will commence on Sunday, 11 January 2015 (not 4 January 2014)
Classes are open to children in Standard 1 to Form 3. New students as well as existing students are required to register online via:

2) Farewell Ceremony & Thanksgiving Lunch Dana for Sayadaw U Rewata

This Sunday, we shall have a short appreciation and thanksgiving ceremony in appreciation of Sayadaw U Rewata who will finish his 3-year professional visit pass in Malaysia, hence, required by Malaysian Immigration, to go back to Myanmar. Sayadaw U Rewata will be departing for Yangon, Myanmar on 6/1/15.

The programme will be as follows:

9.30am: 3 Refuges and 5 Precepts administered by Sayadaw U Rewata
