Announcements (Thursday, 25 May 2017)

1) SJBA Youth Section is organising its annual Teen Dhamma Camp with the theme “Square One: Back to Basic” and lots of fun-filled activities with good Dhamma values for teenagers (age 13 to 17). The Camp will be held from 31 May to 3 June (4D3N) at Klang & Coast Buddhist Association. 2) All devotees are welcome to our Monday Metta Meditation session at SJBA Meditation Hall from 8.30pm to 9.45pm. This cultivation of metta focus on loving kindness to oneself, loved ones and all other beings. On every 1st Monday starting 5 June 2017, our Resident Monk will be guiding the meditators especially the newcomers.
3) SJBA is planning to have Day Retreat during New Moon and Full Moon Days from 9am to 5pm starting from 9 June 2017. The Retreat is free and easy and participants can feel free to join in or leave any time. Vegetarian lunch will be provided.
4) This Sunday’s Buddha Puja will be led by Venerable Indarathana starting at 9.15am followed by chanting, meditation, Dhamma Talk, blessings and sharing of merits. Hymn singing will be led by Bro Fun at 10.45am before lunch dana at 11.00am.

1) The construction, renovation and upgrading works of SJBA Vihara is almost complete except for the sewage treatment plant. The ground floor toilets will also be refurbished soon. Final touch-up, rectification and cleaning works are still in progress. Devotees are reminded to be mindful of own safety when inside the Vihara’s compound.
2) SJBA will be holding our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 21 May 2017 at 9.30am. The Agenda include receiving and adopting the Executive Committee’s Annual Report, Audited Statement of Accounts, and deliberation of other matters as deemed fit by the Assembly. You are cordially invited to join us.

6) SJBA is hosting a Talk by Ven. Wei Wu and Bro Kazal Barua on 15 May 2017, Monday, 8pm to 10pm. Ven. Wu from the Than Hsiang Temple, Penang, will talk on “Buddhists should support Buddhist Education at all levels”, as part of his Dhammaduta Tour to express gratitude and appreciation on behalf of the International Buddhist College (IBC) for supporting the IBC and to update on IBC’s progress and development and to encourage potential students to enrol with IBC. Bro Kazal will talk on “Scientific Approach to Buddhist Concept of Happiness”. All are welcome.
7) This Sunday’s (14/5/17) Buddha Puja will be led by Venerable Indarathana. From this Sunday onwards, our Sunday Puja will commence at 9.10am followed by chanting, meditation, Dhamma Talk, blessings and sharing of merits. Hymn singing will also resume this Sunday at 10.45am.

2) This year’s Wesak day falls on 10 May 2017. Our Wesak Celebration will start on Wesak Eve, 9 May with lighting of Blessings Oil Lamps at 7.30pm followed by Wesak Eve Buddha Puja, Dhamma Talk by Ven. Nyanaramsi, Procession Round the Vihara and Bodhi Tree, Chanting and Meditation. On Wesak Day, Puja Service will commence at 8.00am followed by the official launching of the Wesak Day Celebration at 9.45am. Blessings Service will be carried by the Maha Sangha.
From 11.00am to 2.30pm, vegetarian food will be provided. From 9am to 3pm, there will be a Blood Donation & Organ Pledge Campaign, Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnosis and treatment and also Qi Tuina treatment for devotees needing such services.
We need around 200 volunteer helpers to help organize all these activities. Please register yourselves by writing your name at our Notice Board or call Sis. Lily at Tel. 03-56315299.
