Monks and Nuns Pindapata 2014

Sunday, 16 November 2014:

SJBA held Pindapata (going for alms round) for 34 monks and nuns in conjunction with SJBA’s Nun’s Novitiate Program 2014.

This Pindapata was an overwhelming success, and we have so many devotees lining the streets of Section 14/1 and 14/2, Subang Jaya to offer food and requisites generously.

The Organising Committee and Exco of Subang Jaya Buddhist Association (SJBA), would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude and thanks to all who have contributed towards this meritorious deed.

Dana for Flood Victims

FLOOD RELIEF AID

We are please to announce that all the donated food, water etc had been safely delivered to the flood victims in Kuala Krai with 14 Hilux and a 3-ton lorry.

In addition, we received cash donation of RM32,658. Of this, RM5,000 was used to purchase additional items for the flood victims.

A sum of RM22,438 is for SRJK (C) Yuk Chai and the balance RM5,220 will be given to SJK (C) Kuala Krau for purchase of 9 notice boards, etc.

Distribution of School Items to Needy Malaysian Students
on Sunday, 14 Dec 2014 @9.00am.
at SJBA Vihara

Educare was initiated by Venerable B. Saranankara Nayara Maha Thero of the Sri Lanka Buddhist Temple in Sentul in 2001, with the objective to relief the financial burden of parents by distributing school items to their children to begin a new school term.

Starting from 2006, Subang Jaya Buddhist Association organise this meritorious project. This year, Subang Jaya Buddhist Association is distributing school items to an estimated 600 needy students in Subang Jaya / USJ / Sunway / Sungei Wei and rural areas.

We strongly believe our noble task can be achieved with the continuous support of generous Organisations, Donors, Devotees and Well Wishes.

The course will run for 8 consecutive Fridays from 8.30pm to 10.00pm and will be conducted by Uncle Vijaya, Dr. Chan Kah Yein and Datuk Charlie Chia. All are welcome. No pre-registration is required. 2) SJBA cordially invite all members and devotees, relatives and friends to join our “Gong Xi, Gong Xi” Potluck dinner on 28 February 2015 to celebrate the Chinese New Year and promote fellowship as we enjoy the various program planned for the night together. You may bring along some food to share with others and give angpows to the old folks from the Old Folks Home.

3) This Sunday’s Dhamma Talk in English (8 Feb, 10.00am) is on “The Science of Nibbana” by Bro Tan Siang Chye. . Bro. Siang Chye graduated from Kent Institute, UK and with a Master degree from Massey University, New Zealand. He was a former Chairman of the Buddhist Missionary Youth Section and also the parent body, BMSM for one session. He is a striving meditator and has practised under several prominent meditation teachers locally and in New Zealand. Bro. Siang Chye is currently the Chairman of the Dhamma Committee of SJBA.

4) This Sunday’s Dhamma Talk in Mandarin (8 Feb, 11.30am) is on “Living Harmoniously” by Sis Wong Suh Chuen. Sis. Suh Chuen graduated with Bachelor of Science in Applied Science from TAR College and Masters in Technology (Environment Management) from University Malaya. She is an Environmental Consultant. She was the Dhammaduta Head of TAR College Buddhist Society and former Honorary Secretary of Kinrara Metta Buddhist Society (KMBS). Curretly, Sis. Suh Chuen teaches Sunday Dhamma class for adults at KMBS.
这个星期日的讲题是” 和谐的人生”, 讲师是黄淑娟居士 黄淑娟居士毕业于拉曼学院, 持有 应用科学 学士学位及马来亚大学的科技(环境管理)硕士学位。她现今是一位环境顾问,注册于马来西亚环境部门。淑娟居士,出生于砂朥越州,在中学求学时,已开始学佛。她曾经是拉曼学院佛学会弘组主任和 Kinrara Metta Buddhist Society 的前任名誉秘书。目前,她志愿地为Kinrara Metta Buddhist Society 的成年人周日佛学班,分享佛法。

“Neuroscience and Buddhist Meditation” by Bro Mui Han. Bro Mui Han has
been active in Buddhism since his school days. He was a former President of
St. John’s Institution Buddhist Society KL, former EDSG Director in
Persatuan Buddhis UPM (PBUPM), former committee member of Nalanda
Buddhist Society, former Committee Member of Buddhist Missionary
Society Malaysia (BMSM) Youth Section and former member of Aloka
Foundation Management Committee. Mui Han also co-founded a Buddhist
youth group that was later formalized to be known as Dhammaduta Youth
(D2Y). D2Y have been running annual year-end Buddhist camps for
secondary school students since 1998 till today.

4) This Sunday’s Dhamma Talk in Mandarin (1 Feb, 11.30am) is on
“Inspirational Stories” by Sis Tan Yee Yong. Sis Tan Yee Yong graduated
with Bachelor of Science in Computer Sience and MBA. She obtained MA in
Buddhist Studies from IBC, Thailand. She is now a Dhamma committee
member of SJBA. 这个星期日的讲题是” 人生小故事”, 讲师是陈玉容居士.
玉容居士持有科学学士学位及商业硕士学位,在商业界工作。她曾经是我
们首邦再也佛教会青年组主席,及佛法小组组长 ,在学佛路上, 她持有佛
教文凭及国际佛教大学佛教研究文科硕士 。目前她是我们首邦再也佛教会
佛法委会小组成员.

Billy Tan is a Professional Trainer and Business Development Consultant who has trained countless corporate executives and business professionals in more than 20 countries over the past three decades. Bro. Billy is a Certified Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), as well as being certified by the International Association of Counselors and Therapists, USA, in Clinical Hypnotherapy. In recent years Bro. Billy has conducted several professional training programs for resident and visiting Monks at the Buddhist Maha Vihara, Brickfields, in the areas of Emotional Intelligence, Communication, Professional Presentation, Public Relations, Community Services, Leadership, and Management. In sharing the Dhamma, Bro. Billy researches discoveries from the fields of Neuroscience and Psychology to present teachings of the Buddha from a scientific perspective

image0014This Sunday’s Dhamma Talk is on “Understanding Life, its Purpose and Meaning” by Bro Teoh Kian Koon. Bro. Teoh Kian Koon graduated from University of Malaya in Civil Engineering in 1979. He had been a spiritual practitioner cum ‘Meditator’ since 1971. Since his retirement in 2001 from his engineering career, he has been sharing his understanding and experiences with all who are keen in the search for true happiness, peace and liberation from birth and death and all mental suffering to become a more virtuous, noble and wiser human being. He gives talks and hold meditation and Dhamma classes at various meditation centres.
