Nyanaramsi beginning 1 June until 6 Jun 2014, 8.30pm to 10.30pm, followed by a short Meditation Retreat from 6 Jun to 8 Jun 2014. Ven. Nyanaramsi was an accountant in Malaysia before he was ordained in 1995 at the Chanmyay Yeiktha Meditation Centre in Yangon, Myanmar with Venerable Chanmyay Yeiktha Sayadaw U Janakabhivamsa as his preceptor. He had also studied the Dhamma and meditation under Sayadaw U Indaka and other Sayadaws in Myanmar. Ven Nyanaramsi spent 9 vassas in Myanmar before he accepted an invitation from SJBA to come back to Malaysia in 2003 to teach the Dhamma and meditation to Malaysian Buddhists. Ven Nyanaramsi is now the Abbot of Subang Jaya Vihara He travels frequently to Taiwan, Thailand, Myanmar and Indonesia to conduct meditation retreats. 2) SJBA will be holding our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 22nd June 2014 at 9.30am (not on 15th June as announced in our Newsletter as SJBA received ROS’s approval on the amendment of its Rules and Regulations only on 27 May 2014). The Agenda include receiving and adopting the Executive Committee’s Annual Report, Audited Statement of Accounts, Election of a new Executive Committee and deliberation of other matters as deemed fit by the Assembly. 3) This morning’s (1/6/14) Dhamma Talk in Mandarin (at 11.30am) is on “Faith” by Chew Yee Yean. Sis Chew Yee Yean graduated from UKM. She is now working as a Senior Biochemist at UMMC. 今天 (1/6/14, 11.30am) 的讲题是“正信”, 讲师是周怡燕居士. 怡燕居士 毕业于马来西亚国民大学,她现今 在 马大医药中心担任高级生物化学师。在这十年以来,她志愿地帮忙与宣扬佛法等义务,希望能增进大家对佛法的认识与了解.

2) The topic of this morning’s (25/5/14) in Mandarin (at 11.30am) “Meeting with the Dhamma” by Ven. Dhammapala. 今天 (25/5/14, 11.30am)的讲题是与佛法相会, 讲师是法护法师. 法师毕业于斯里兰卡的Kelaniya大学,专注于巴利文和佛教研究。法师也在香港大学获得了博士学位,也在香港大学当过讲师,并呈列了一些论文。他目前是 “Buddhistdoor” 佛门的精神理事。是香港大学, 佛学校友会中心的副主席。也是其他以佛教为基础的组织的理事主任

3) This morning’s (25/5/14, 10am) Dhamma Talk will be on “Buddhism and Science” by Ven. Dhammapala. Ven. Dhammapala graduated in Pali and Buddhist Studies from the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka and received his Doctorate from the University of Hong Kong. He has been lecturing in the University of Hong Kong and has presented a number of papers. He is
currently the Spiritual Director of Buddhistdoor.

Ven, Wei Jing is the Abbess of Qi Meng Buddhist Temple, Taipei. She is the Director of Ci Hang Social Welfare Foundation Taiwan and Supervisor of New Taipei Buddhist Centre. (这个星期日的讲题是:有佛法就有辦法, 由释惟

3) This morning’s (18/5/14, 10am) Dhamma Talk will be given by Sayadaw U Rewata. Sayadaw U Rewata. Sayadaw U Rewata was born in 1955 in Thonse, Myanmar. He graduated in 1980 with Bachelor of Science at the Rangoon University. He was ordained in 1983. He followed Pariyatti and Patipatti under the guidance of Most Venerable Chanmyay Sayadaw U Janaka Bhivamsa. He has travelled widely to many countries like Japan, USA,
Canada, India, etc for missionary work, teaching Metta Bhavana, Vipassana Bhavana, Suttanta Recitations, etc. He served as the Abbot in Hmawbi, Yangon in 2004 to 2006, and also has been the Abbot of the Satipatthana Vipassana Association, Springfield, USA. Sayadaw U Rewata is currently in Subang Jaya Buddhist Association to support its Dhamma missionary work.

Our Wesak Celebration will start on Wesak Eve, Monday, 12th May with lighting of Blessings Oil Lamps at 7.30pm followed by Wesak Eve Buddha Puja, Dhamma Talk, Procession Round the Vihara and Bodhi Tree, Chanting and Meditation. On Wesak Day, Puja Service will commence at 8.00am followed by the official launching of the Wesak Day Celebration at 9.45am. Blessings Service will be carried by the Maha Sangha. From 11.00am to 2.00pm, vegetarian food will be provided. There will be a Blood Donation & Organ Pledge Campaign and Free Health Check. We need around 200 volunteer helpers to help organize all these activities. Please register yourselves by writing your name at our Notice Board or call Sis. Lily at Tel. 03-56315299.

3) The Selangor State Government, with the assistance from the Selangor Buddhist Development Council, is organizing a state-level Wesak Celebration on 17 May 2014, Saturday, 7.00pm to 10.00pm at the Auditorium Dewan Jubli, SUK Shah Alam.
The night will be filled with interesting cultural performances from local as well as from foreign countries like Japan, Thailand, Singapore and Sri Lanka. Light refreshment will be provided. Transport will be provided (for those who need) with 2 buses will be leaving SJBA at 6.15pm. Please register with Sis Lily (03-56348181) for bus transport, first-come, first-serve).

4) This morning’s (11/5/14)in Mandarin (at 11.30am) is on “Ten Meritorious Deeds – Part III” by Sis Wong Suh Chuen. Sis. Suh Chuen graduated with Bachelor of Science in Applied Science from TAR College and Masters in Technology (Environment Management) from University Malaya. She is an Environmental Consultant. She was the Dhammaduta Head of TAR College Buddhist Society and former Honorary Secretary of Kinrara Metta Buddhist Society (KMBS). Curretly, Sis. Suh Chuen teaches Sunday Dhamma class for adults at KMBS.

(这个星期日的讲题是十种善业, 讲师是黄淑娟居士. 黄淑娟居士毕业于拉曼学院, 持有 应用科学 学士学位及马来亚大学的科技(环境管理)硕士学位。她现今是一位环境顾问,注册于马来西亚环境部门。淑娟居士,出生于砂朥越州,在中学求学时,已开始学佛。她曾经是拉曼学院佛学会弘组主任和 Kinrara Metta Buddhist Society 的前任名誉秘书。目前,她志愿地为Kinrara Metta Buddhist Society 的成年人周日佛学班,分享佛法)。

5) This morning’s (4/5/14, 10am) Dhamma Talk in on “Here and Gone: Understanding Impermanence”. Bro. Siang Chye graduated from Kent Institute, UK and with a Master degree from Massey University, New Zealand. He was a former Chairman of the Buddhist Missionary Youth Section and also the parent body, BMSM for one session. He is a striving meditator and has practised under several prominent meditation teachers locally and in New Zealand. Bro. Siang Chye is currently the Chairman of the Dhamma Committee of SJBA.

Our Speaker, Bro. Billy Tan is a Professional Trainer and Business Development Consultant who has trained countless corporate executives and business professionals in more than 20 countries over the past three decades. Bro. Billy is a Certified Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), as well as being certified by the International Association of Counselors and Therapists, USA, in Clinical Hypnotherapy. In recent years Bro. Ven Kumāra Bhikkhu was ordained in 1999 at the age of 27 by Sayadaw U Revata at Subang Jaya Buddhist Association (SJBA). Presently, he resides in Sāsanārakkha Buddhist Sanctuary where he studies under the guidance of Ven Aggacitta Bhikkhu and acts as his personal assistant. The venerable graduated with a degree in education from the University of Malaya, which was where he became enthusiastic with the Buddha’s teachings. He was active in the Buddhist society there. During his working life, he also became active in Buddhist Maha Vihara’s Sunday Dhamma School, SJBA and Buddhist Wisdom Centre. Since then, he has often been invited to share the Dhamma in English and Chinese to adults, teenagers and young children. Being a truth-seeker, Ven Kumāra enjoys exploring a wide field of knowledge, including those beyond orthodoxy. Besides learning and practicing the DhammaVinaya, he enjoys spontaneous qigong and helping others to release their sufferings and therefore gain happiness May You Be Well & Happy, Always!

image00141) SJBA is calling an EGM at SJBA Main Shrine Hall on this Sunday, 13 April 2013, 9.30am to revoke some clauses of SJBA’s Rules & Regulations. Please refer to the Notice of EGM or refer to the Notice Board for more information. All members are welcome. The Sunday Puja Service will be a short one before commencement of the EGM.

“SJBA – Your Friendly and Caring Dhamma Centre”

National Prayer for MH 370

A National Prayer Service by the Sangha of the 3 major traditions will be held this Sunday as follows:

Date: 6 April 2014, Sunday

Time: 10.00am – 12.00pm

Venue: Dewan San Choon, Wisma MCA, Jalan Ampang

The objective of the Prayer Service is to pray and show our concern, care and loving-kindness for the passengers and crew of MH370 and their families and relatives, as well as to help the nation in this difficult time.

The participating organisations are Malaysian Buddhist Association, Young Buddhist Association of Malaysia, Fo Guang Shan, Persatuan Penganut Agama Buddha Fo Guang Malaysia, Buddhist Maha Vihara, Buddhist Missionary Society Malaysia, Theravada Buddhist Council of Malaysia, Vajrayana Buddist Council of Malaysia, Kencara and others
