image00141) SJBA is organising an intensive Introduction to Meditation Course with meditation practice, conducted by our Abbot, Ven. Nyanaramsi over 2 weekends from 5 to 7 Jun and 12-14 Jun 2015.

Ven. Nyanaramsi was an accountant before he was ordained as Bhikkhu in 1995 at Chanmyay Yeiktha Meditation Centre, practicing under Sayadaw U Janakabhivamsa for a total of 9 years. Ven. Nyanaramsi was giving various support for foreign meditators in the Centre before accepting Subang Jaya Buddhist Association’s invitation to come back in 2003 to teach the Malaysian Buddhists. 2) SJBA is hosting a Dhamma Talk by Ven Dhammavuddho Mahathera on 27th June 2015, Saturday, 8.30pm at SJBA Shrine Hall. The title of the Talk is “Characteristics of a Sotapanna”.

Venerable Dhammavuddho graduated from the University Malaya in 1971, and worked as an Electrical Engineer with the Public Works Department for 12 years. He was ordained as a monk in the Mahayana tradition in 1983. Three years later, he was re-ordained in the Theravada tradition in Thailand. Thereafter, he spent about 10 years living the solitary lifestyle in quiet places. He has written numerous booklets on Buddhism, e.g. Return to the Original Buddha’s Teachings, Message of the Buddha, Buddhist Monk’s Precepts, Liberation: Relevance of Sutta-Vinaya, Only We Can Help Ourselves, etc. In 1998, he established Vihara Buddha Gotama near Temoh, in Perak. Ven. Dhammavuddho is currently a Monastic Adviser the Theravāda Buddhist Council of Malaysia.

Amongst various ways to raise funds for the construction of the new block, SJBA has an on-going “Donate a Brick” campaign. Each brick is RM100. 4) Another Temple Building Extension Fund Raising effort is through “Imee Ooi
Concert – Sound of Wisdom” on 1 August 2015, Saturday, 3.00pm at Istana Budaya.

Sis Imee Ooi of “The Chant of Metta” fame as well as many other highly-praised musical works will be making a live appearance in her debut concert. A teacher, composer, producer, director and singer, Imee is serving the Dhamma with her extraordinary talent and voice. She is a Buddhist practitioner that adheres to the teachings of loving kindness, peace and harmony. Founder of IMM Musicworks in 1997, she has released more than 50 albums and has produced many musical works for many Buddhist societies and organizations. Her mission is in singing messages of peace, harmony and compassion or simply bringing healing sounds to her listeners through music.

Tickets are now available in SJBA (at RM100, RM150, RM200, RM250 and RM350). You can now have the opportunity to support the development of local Buddhist musical talents and performance arts as well as contributing to the building extension of SJBA Vihara.

5) This Sunday (31/5/15, 10am) Dhamma Talk (in English) is given by Ven. Nyanaramsi. The title is “Overcoming Mental Hindrances and Defilements by Mindfulness Meditation.

6) The Sunday Dhamma Talk (11.30am) in Mandarin will be off during the school holidays and will resume on 21 June 2015.

The Agenda include receiving and adopting the Executive Committee’s Annual Report, Audited Statement of Accounts, and deliberation of other matters as deemed fit by the Assembly. You are cordially invited to join us.

Amongst various ways to raise funds for the construction of the new block, SJBA has an on-going “Donate a Brick” campaign. Each brick is RM100. image00141) This Sunday (17/5/15) Puja Service will be conducted by the Tarabuddy, an Indonesian Buddhist Society with close collaboration with SJBA. They will also hold its very first Indonesian Day in SJBA, titled “One Step Closer, Indonesia”. This eye opener will be held this Sunday from 9.30am to 2.00pm in SJBA.

The event will start with the morning Puja ala Indonesian style in the Shrine Hall followed by a sharing session and performances of Indonesian culture. There will also be mini exhibition and Indonesian food stalls for the public. Coupons for food are available for purchase at the SJBA office.
2) This Sunday (17/5/15, 11.30am) Dhamma Talk in Mandarin (at 11.30am) is by Chew Yee Yean. Sis Chew Yee Yean graduated from UKM. She is now working as a Senior Biochemist at UMMC. 这个星期日(17/5/15, 11.30am) 的讲题是 “风雨同路 ”, 讲师是周怡燕居士. 怡燕居士 毕业于马来西亚国民大学,她现今 在 马大医药中心担任高级生物化学师。在这十年以来,她志愿地帮忙与宣扬佛法等义务,希望能增进大家对佛法的认识与了解

TBCM : Invitation to “PRAY FOR NEPAL” Inter-faith Prayer Service 诚 邀出席《与尼同在》跨宗教祈福会

The Nepal Earthquake Disaster on 25th April 2015 resulted in over 7,500 deaths and 17,000 injuries. The 2nd major quake on 12th May 2015 caused more deaths and injury and further damage to physical properties. The World deeply share the grief and sufferings of the Nepali people. Malaysia has close relations with Nepal. There are 900,000 Nepalis working in Malaysia contributing to our economic growth. A number of multi-religious groups in Malaysia have come together to pray sincerely and heartily for the well being of Nepal and the Nepali people and that they would have the strength to overcome steadfastly all the challenges encountered. Thus an  Inter-faith Prayer Service has been organized as follows.

Various leaders and religious clergies will conduct prayers and blessings through their respective religious ceremonies. The organiser invites and welcomes everybody, in particular Nepalis in Malaysia, to join in this Prayer Service to extend our love and compassion and prayers to all affected.

image00141) The Selangor State Government, with the assistance from the Selangor Buddhist Development Council, is organizing a state-level Wesak Celebration on this Saturday, 9 May 2015, 7.00pm to 10.00pm at the Auditorium Dewan Jubli, SUK Shah Alam. The night will be filled with interesting cultural performances from local as well as from foreign countries like Japan, Korea, and Sri Lanka. Light dinner will be provided.

Dhammapala graduated in Pali and Buddhist Studies from the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka and received his Doctorate from the University of Hong Kong He has been lecturing in the University of Hong Kong and has presented a number of papers. He is currently the Spritual Director of Buddhistdoor. Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong University Centre of Buddhist Studies Alumini Association and Director of a few Buddhist-based organisations.

Suh Chuen graduated with Bachelor of Science in Applied Science from TAR College and Masters in Technology (Environment Management) from University Malaya. She is an Environmental Consultant. She was the Dhammaduta Head of TAR College Buddhist Society and currently the Honorary Secretary of Kinrara Metta Buddhist Society (KMBS). Sis. Suh Chuen also teaches Sunday Dhamma class for adults at KMBS.

这个星期日的讲题是” 和谐的人生”, 讲师是黄淑娟居士黄淑娟居士毕业于拉曼学院, 持有 应用科学 学士学位及马来亚大学的科技(环境管理)硕士学位。她现今是一位环境顾问,注册于马来西亚环境部门。淑娟居士,出生于砂朥越州,在中学求学时,已开始学佛。她曾经是拉曼学院佛学会弘组主任和 Kinrara Metta Buddhist Society 的前任名誉秘书。目前,她志愿地为Kinrara Metta Buddhist Society 的成年人周日佛学班,分享佛法。

image00141) This year’s Wesak day falls on Sunday, 3 May 2015.

Our Wesak Celebration will start on Wesak Eve, 2 May with lighting of Blessings Oil Lamps at 7.30pm followed by Wesak Eve Buddha Puja, Dhamma Talk by Ven. Nyanaramsi, Procession Round the Vihara and Bodhi Tree, Chanting and Meditation.

On Wesak Day, Puja Service will commence at 8.00am followed by the official launching of the Wesak Day Celebration at 9.45am. Blessings Service will be carried by the Maha Sangha. From 11.00am to 2.30pm, vegetarian food will be provided. There will be a Blood Donation & Organ Pledge Campaign, Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnosis and treatment for those needing such services.

We need around 200 volunteer helpers to help organize all these activities. Please register yourselves by writing your name at our Notice Board or call Sis. Lily at Tel. 03-56315299.

Fund Raising for Nepal Earthquake Victims

Fellow Brothers & Sisters in the Dhamma,
nepal1A devastating 7.9 earthquake in Nepal on 25 April 2015 has destroyed many homes and lives and render thousands homeless. To-date more than 4,000 has died and the death toll is still rising. Countless thousands of traumatised people, especially the children, have to spend the cold nights out on the streets, in open spaces, frightened that the weakened buildings may collapse. They need our help.

SJBA is organising to raise funds in aid of the Nepal’s earthquake victims. Cash donations can be bank into Subang Jaya Buddhist Association Bank A/C: CIMB 12610000122052. (Please indicate behind cheque “For Nepal Earthquake Victims). Please request for receipts by forwarding your bank slip and name of donor.

 

You can also donate tents, blankets, clothing (new please), instant food, dry foodstuff, canned food, cooking oil (no rice and sugar pleanepal2se as they are controlled items in Nepal), for Nepal earth quake victims. For quicker logistics, please send direct to Sri Lanka Buddhist Temple, Sentul from 4th to 8th May 2015. If it is not convenient for you to do so, SJBA can also help to collect (from 4th to 7th May) and resend to Sentul .
The cash donations and the above items will be sent to Vishwa Shanti Vihara, Kathmandu (Abbot: Sayadaw Nyanapurnik and/or Charumati Buddha Vihara, Kathmandu (Abbot: Ven. Tapassi) or the Fo Guang Shan New Delhi.

Billy Tan is a Professional Trainer and Business Development Consultant who has trained countless corporate executives and business professionals in more than 20 countries over the past three decades. Bro. Billy is a Certified Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), as well as being certified by the International Association of Counselors and Therapists, USA, in Clinical Hypnotherapy. In recent years Bro. Billy has conducted several professional training programs for resident and visiting Monks at the Buddhist Maha Vihara, Brickfields, in the areas of Emotional Intelligence, Communication, Professional Presentation, Public Relations, Community Services, Leadership, and Management. In sharing the Dhamma, Bro. Billy researches discoveries from the fields of Neuroscience and Psychology to present teachings of the Buddha from a scientific perspective.

A teacher, composer, producer, director and singer, Imee is serving the Dhamma with her extraordinary talent and voice. She is a Buddhist practitioner that adheres to the teachings of loving kindness, peace and harmony. Founder of IMM Musicworks in 1997, she has released more than 50 albums and has produced many musical works for many Buddhist societies and organizations. Her mission is in singing messages of peace, harmony and compassion or simply bringing healing sounds to her listeners through music.

Tickets are now available in SJBA (at RM100, RM150, RM200, RM250 and RM350). You can now have the opportunity to support the development of local Buddhist musical talents and performance arts as well as contributing to the building extension of SJBA Vihara.

4) This year’s Wesak day falls on 3rd May 2015. Our Wesak Celebration will start on Wesak Eve, 2nd May with lighting of Blessings Oil Lamps at 7.30pm followed by Wesak Eve Buddha Puja, Dhamma Talk, Procession Round the Vihara and Bodhi Tree, Chanting and Meditation.

On Wesak Day, Puja Service will commence at 8.00am followed by the official launching of the Wesak Day Celebration at 9.45am. Blessings Service will be carried by the Maha Sangha. On this Wesak Day, everyone has the opportunity to do good deeds of great merits by contributing to build our temple extension.

From 11.00am to 2.30pm, vegetarian food will be provided. There will be a Blood Donation & Organ Pledge Campaign, Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnosis and treatment for those needing such services.

We need around 200 volunteer helpers to help organize all these activities. Please register yourselves by writing your name at our Notice Board or call Sis. Lily at Tel. 03-56315299.

5) This Sunday’s (19/4/15) Dhamma Talk (in English, 10am) will be given by Bro Tan Siang Chye. Bro. Siang Chye graduated from Kent Institute, UK and with a Master degree from Massey University, New Zealand. He was a former Chairman of the Buddhist Missionary Youth Section and also the parent body, BMSM for one session. He is a striving meditator and has practised under several prominent meditation teachers locally and in New Zealand. Bro. Siang Chye is currently the Chairman of the Dhamma Committee of SJBA.

6) This Sunday’s (19/4/15) Dhamma Talk in Mandarin (at 11.30am) is on “Inspirational Stories” by Sis Tan Yee Yong. Sis Tan Yee Yong graduated with Bachelor of Science in Computer Sience and MBA. She obtained MA in Buddhist Studies from IBC, Thailand. She is now a Dhamma committee member of SJBA.
