Our Wesak Celebration will start on Wesak Eve, Monday, 12th May with lighting of Blessings Oil Lamps at 7.30pm followed by Wesak Eve Buddha Puja, Dhamma Talk, Procession Round the Vihara and Bodhi Tree, Chanting and Meditation. On Wesak Day, Puja Service will commence at 8.00am followed by the official launching of the Wesak Day Celebration at 9.45am. Blessings Service will be carried by the Maha Sangha. From 11.00am to 2.00pm, vegetarian food will be provided. There will be a Blood Donation & Organ Pledge Campaign and Free Health Check. We need around 200 volunteer helpers to help organize all these activities. Please register yourselves by writing your name at our Notice Board or call Sis. Lily at Tel. 03-56315299.

2) SJBA is organising an Introduction to Meditation Course conducted by Ven. Nyanaramsi from 22 May to 8 Jun 2014, 8.30pm to 10.30pm (22 May, is for orientation, followed by 6 lessons beginning 1 June) and then followed by a short Meditation Retreat from 6 Jun to 8 Jun 2014. Ven. Nyanaramsi was an accountant in Malaysia before he was ordained in 1995 at the Chanmyay Yeiktha Meditation Centre in Yangon, Myanmar with Venerable Chanmyay Yeiktha Sayadaw U Janakabhivamsa as his preceptor. He had also studied the Dhamma and meditation under Sayadaw U Indaka and other Sayadaws in Myanmar. Ven Nyanaramsi spent 9 vassas in Myanmar before he accepted an invitation from SJBA to come back to Malaysia in 2003 to teach the Dhamma and meditation to Malaysian Buddhists. Ven Nyanaramsi is now the Abbot of Subang Jaya Vihara He travels frequently to Taiwan, Thailand, Myanmar and Indonesia to conduct meditation retreats. 3) The Selangor State Government, with the assistance from the Selangor Buddhist Development Council, is organizing a state-level Wesak Celebration on 17 May 2014, Saturday, 7.00pm to 10.00pm at the Auditorium Dewan Jubli, SUK Shah Alam.
The night will be filled with interesting cultural performances from local as well as from foreign countries like Japan, Thailand, Singapore and Sri Lanka. Light refreshment will be provided. Transport will be provided (for those who need) with 2 buses will be leaving SJBA at 6.15pm. Please register with Sis Lily (03-56348181) for bus transport, first-come, first-serve).

4) This morning’s (11/5/14)in Mandarin (at 11.30am) is on “Ten Meritorious Deeds – Part III” by Sis Wong Suh Chuen. Sis. Suh Chuen graduated with Bachelor of Science in Applied Science from TAR College and Masters in Technology (Environment Management) from University Malaya. She is an Environmental Consultant. She was the Dhammaduta Head of TAR College Buddhist Society and former Honorary Secretary of Kinrara Metta Buddhist Society (KMBS). Curretly, Sis. Suh Chuen teaches Sunday Dhamma class for adults at KMBS.

(这个星期日的讲题是十种善业, 讲师是黄淑娟居士. 黄淑娟居士毕业于拉曼学院, 持有 应用科学 学士学位及马来亚大学的科技(环境管理)硕士学位。她现今是一位环境顾问,注册于马来西亚环境部门。淑娟居士,出生于砂朥越州,在中学求学时,已开始学佛。她曾经是拉曼学院佛学会弘组主任和 Kinrara Metta Buddhist Society 的前任名誉秘书。目前,她志愿地为Kinrara Metta Buddhist Society 的成年人周日佛学班,分享佛法)。

5) This morning’s (4/5/14, 10am) Dhamma Talk in on “Here and Gone: Understanding Impermanence”. Bro. Siang Chye graduated from Kent Institute, UK and with a Master degree from Massey University, New Zealand. He was a former Chairman of the Buddhist Missionary Youth Section and also the parent body, BMSM for one session. He is a striving meditator and has practised under several prominent meditation teachers locally and in New Zealand. Bro. Siang Chye is currently the Chairman of the Dhamma Committee of SJBA.

Bro. Billy is a Certified Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), as well as being certified by the International Association of Counselors and Therapists, USA, in Clinical Hypnotherapy. In recent years Bro. Dhammapala graduated in Pali and Buddhist Studies from the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka and received his Doctorate from the University of Hong Kong. He has been lecturing in the University of Hong Kong and has presented a number of papers. He is currently the Spritual Director of Buddhistdoor. Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong University Centre of Buddhist Studies Alumini Association and Director of a few Buddhist-based organisations.

5) This morning’s (20 April 2014, 10am) Dhamma Talk in English is on “Finding Happiness in an Unhappy World” by Ven Kumara. Ven Kumāra Bhikkhu was ordained in 1999 at the age of 27 by Sayadaw U Revata at Subang Jaya Buddhist Association (SJBA). Presently, he resides in Sāsanārakkha Buddhist Sanctuary where he studies under the guidance of Ven Aggacitta Bhikkhu and acts as his personal assistant. The venerable graduated with a degree in education from the University of Malaya, which was where he became enthusiastic with the Buddha’s teachings. He was active in the Buddhist society there. During his working life, he also became active in Buddhist Maha Vihara’s Sunday Dhamma School, SJBA and Buddhist Wisdom Centre. Since then, he has often been invited to share the Dhamma in English and Chinese to adults, teenagers and young children. Being a truth-seeker, Ven Kumāra enjoys exploring a wide field of knowledge, including those beyond orthodoxy. image00141) SJBA is calling an EGM at SJBA Main Shrine Hall on this Sunday, 13 April 2013, 9.30am to revoke some clauses of SJBA’s Rules & Regulations. Please refer to the Notice of EGM or refer to the Notice Board for more information. All members are welcome. The Sunday Puja Service will be a short one before commencement of the EGM.

image00141) Subang Jaya Buddhist Association cordially invite all members and devotees with relatives and friends to join us at our “Gong Xi, Gong Xi” Potluck dinner on 8th February 2014, 7.30pm-10.00pm, to celebrate the Chinese New Year together and promote fellowship as we enjoy the various program planned for the night together from some guests from the Old Folks Homes.

2) On 16th February 2014, our Sunday Dhamma School children, Youth Section and Teen Quest members will be making house calls to bring auspicious New Year greetings and songs, Buddhist hymns and good wishes to the hosts and family. 3) This morning’s (5th Jan 2014) Chanting and Meditation will be led by Sayadaw U Rewata. Sayadaw U Rewata. Sayadaw U Rewata was born in 1955 in Thonse, Myanmar. He graduated in 1980 with Bachelor of Science at the Rangoon University. He was ordained in 1983. He followed Pariyatti and Patipatti under the guidance of Most Venerable Chanmyay Sayadaw U Janaka Bhivamsa. He has travelled widely to many countries like Japan, USA, Canada, India, etc for missionary work, teaching Metta Bhavana, Vipassana Bhavana, Suttanta Recitations, etc. He served as the Abbot in Hmawbi, Yangon in 2004 to 2006, and also has been the Abbot of the Satipatthana Vipassana Association, Springfield, USA. Sayadaw U Rewata is currently in Subang Jaya Buddhist Association to support its Dhamma missionary work.

image00141) SJBA is organizing a New Year Blessing Night cum Charity Countdown (in assistance of the Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak-kanak Kurang Upaya) on this Tuesday, 31 December 2013 to usher in 2014. It is a good time for all of us to come together to reinforce our fellowship, show our care for the less fortunate, and at the same time, reflect on our deeds and make aspirations to improve ourselves in the coming year. The program will begin at 8.30pm with Buddha Puja, Blessings by the Sangha, Reflections on 2013 and making Aspirations for 2014, followed by refreshment (mee siam, bubur cha cha, etc.), karaoke fund-raising and countdown, accompanied by some fireworks to user in the New Year. Please bring your family and friends to join us to user in a better year. Karaoke enthusiasts are requested to bring their favorite discs.

They will receive also shoes vouchers, courtesy from the Selangor State Government. We hope that through this simple but sincere gesture, the students are motivated to study better and achieve academic success and eventually success in life.

image00141) This year’s Educare Program in SJBA will be held on next Sunday 15th December , 9.00am, to provide needy students with school items to start the new school term. It is expected that about 500 to 600 needy students will receive the school items. Each student will receive a full set of school items which consists of school bags, shoes, books, stationary, etc. which costs about RM108.00. We hope that through this simple but sincere gesture, the students are motivated to study better and achieve academic success and eventually success in life. This meritorious deed can be achieved with the support of generous Organizations, Donors, Devotees and Well Wishers. 2) This morning’s (8 December 2013) Dhamma Talk will be given by SJBA Abbot, Ven. Nyanaramsi. Ven. Nyanaramsi was an accountant in Malaysia before he was ordained in 1995 at the Chanmyay Yeiktha Meditation Centre in Yangon, Myanmar with Venerable Chanmyay Yeiktha Sayadaw U Janakabhivamsa as his preceptor. He had also studied the Dhamma and meditation under Sayadaw U Indaka and other Sayadaws in Myanmar. Ven Nyanaramsi spent 9 vassas in Myanmar before he accepted an invitation from SJBA to come back to Malaysia in 2003 to teach the Dhamma and meditation to Malaysian Buddhists. Ven Nyanaramsi is now the Abbot of Subang Jaya Vihara He travels frequently to Taiwan, Thailand, Myanmar and Indonesia to conduct meditation retreats..
