image00141) This Sunday’s Puja Service will be off due to the Educare Program being held in SJBA Shrine Hall. It will be the 8th anniversary of the Program in SJBA.This year SJBA will provide 530 needy students with school items to start the new school term. Each student will receive a full set of school items which consists of school bags, shoes, books, stationary, etc. We hope this will motivate the students to study better and achieve academic success and eventually success in life. Thank you to all of you who have contributed generously to help these needy students. You are invited to come and witness the giving away of the school items to the students. You can also assist by providing your voluntary services to help in the distribution of the school items. For further information, please contact Sis Lily at 03-56348181.

2) This year’s Annual Vipassana Meditation Retreat at SJBA will commence on 13th December 2014 and end on 22nd December 2014. The Retreat will be conducted by Venerable Sayadaw U Sobhita and Sayadaw U Rewata from Chanmyay Yeiktha Meditation Centre. Please maintain silence within the vicinity of SJBA during the Retreat period to provide a more conducive environment for the yogis.

3) SJBA’s Sunday Dhamma School (SDS) 2015 is open for student registration, online, effective 1 Nov 2014. The Buddhist classes will be conducted in three (3) sessions, as follows:

Session A: 9.00am to 10.30am

Session B: 10.30am to 12.00pm

Session C: 12.00pm to 1.30pm

Classes will commence on Sunday, 4 January 2015.

4) SJBA will be celebrating this New Year Eve with a 8-course Appreciation Dinner in SJBA to thank our members and devotees for the selfless and
tireless services to SJBA Vihara. The evening shall start with Puja at 7.30pm. Dinner is served at 8.00pm (sharp). During dinner there will be performances, karaoke competition and lots of prizes and lucky draws. At midnight, there will be a firework display to mark the countdown to welcome a New Year.

Venue : Subang Jaya Buddhist Association (SJBA)

Time : 7.30pm to Midnight Dinner

Ticket : RM380 per table or RM38 per pax – FULLY SOLD

We apologise to those who are not able to get any more ticket because the tickets are already fully sold. However, light refreshment will be provided from 8.00pm to those without tickets but wish to come and join us for the countdown.

1) This year’s Wesak day falls on 24th May 2013. Our Wesak Celebration will start on Wesak Eve, 23rd May with lighting of Blessings Oil Lamps at 7.30pm followed by Wesak Eve Buddha Puja, Dhamma Talk, Procession Round the Vihara and Bodhi Tree, Chanting and Meditation. On Wesak Day, Puja Service will commence at 8.00am followed by the official launching of the Wesak Day Celebration at 9.45am. Blessings Service will be carried by the Maha Sangha. From 11.00am to 2.00pm, vegetarian food will be provided. There will be a Blood Donation & Organ Pledge Campaign, Free Health Check and Buddhist films shows and Buddhist calligraphy. We need around 200 volunteer helpers to help organize all these activities. Please register yourselves by writing your name at our Notice Board or call Sis. Lily at Tel. 03-56315299.

2) SJBA is organising an Introduction to Meditation Course conducted by our Abbot, Ven. Nyanaramsi from 26 May to 1 Jun, 8.30pm to 10.30pm (first day orientation followed by 6 lessons) followed by a short Meditation Retreat from 1 Jun to 4 Jun. Ven. Nyanaramsi was an accountant before he was ordained as Bhikkhu in 1995 at Chanmyay Yeiktha Meditation Centre, practicing under Sayadaw U Janakabhivamsa for a total of 9 years. Ven. Nyanaramsi was giving various support to foreign meditators in the Centre before accepting Subang Jaya Buddhist Association’s invitation to come back in 2003 to teach the Malaysian Buddhists. He travels frequently to other countries like Indonesia, Taiwan, Thailand, China, etc to teach meditation. If you wish to join in the Retreat as a yogi, helper or sponsor, please inform Sis. 3) SJBA’s Puja Session in Mandarin is from 11.30am to 12.30pm every Sunday, at SJBA Shrine Hall. Please give the gift of the Dhamma to your Mandarin speaking relatives and friends by inviting them to join us. The gift of the Dhamma is the highest gift.

4) This morning’s Dhamma Talk is on “Understanding Life – its meaning and purpose”. The Talk will be given by Bro Teoh Kian Koon. Bro. Kian Koon graduated from the University of Malaya in Civil Engineering in 1979. Since his retirement in 2001 from his engineering career, he has been sharing his understanding and experience with all who are keen to search for true happiness, peace and liberation from birth and death, and all mental suffering to become more virtuous, noble and wiser human beings. He gives Dhamma Talks and holds meditation and Dhamma classes at various meditation centres.

ANNOUNCEMENTS (3rd March, Sunday)

1) As another community service for our members and devotees with SJBA arranging with 2 experienced Chinese Physicians qualified in Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment to give treatment to those with certain sicknesses and bodily ache/pain, every Saturday, 9am to 12pm, at SJBA. The fees are chargeable at RM30.00 which include the diagnosis, acupuncture or other treatment, and medicine.

2) SJBA will be organizing the Introduction to Buddhism course from 1 March to 19 April 2013. The course will run for 8 consecutive Fridays from 8.30pm to 10.00pm and will be conducted by Uncle Vijaya, Bro Charlie Chia and Dr Chan Kah Yein. All are welcome. No pre-registration is required. 3) SJBA is starting a Puja Session conducted in Mandarin beginning 10th March 2013, 11.30am to 12.30pm at SJBA Shrine Hall. On 10th March, we shall have a Dhamma Talk by Sis Tan Yee Yong who was the former SJBA Youth Section Chairperson and Dhamma Department Head. She currently serves in SJBA Dhamma Subcommittee. Sis Yee Yong graduated with a Bachelor of Science, MBA, Diploma in Buddhism and a Master of Arts in Buddhist Studies (IBC). Please inform and invite your Chinese speaking relatives and friends. The gift of the Dhamma is the highest gift so give this gift of Dhamma to your relatives and friends. If you have old people who need transport to and back from SJBA, please call Sis Lily or Sis Cindy at 03-56348181.

4) This morning, Sayadaw U Rewata will lead us in chanting and meditation. Sayadaw U Rewata was born in 1955 in Thonse, Myanmar. He graduated in 1980 with Bachelor of Science at the Rangoon University. He was ordained in 1983. He followed Pariyatti and Patipatti under the guidance of Most Venerable Chanmyay Sayadaw U Janaka Bhivamsa. He has travelled widely to many countries like Japan, USA, Canada, India, etc for missionary work, teaching Metta Bhavana, Vipassana Bhavana, Suttanta Recitations, etc. He served as the Abbot in Hmawbi, Yangon in 2004 to 2006, and also has been the Abbot of the Satipatthana Vipassana Association, Springfield, USA. Sayadaw U Rewata is currently in Subang Jaya Buddhist Association to support its Dhamma missionary work.

Bojjhanga & Metta Chanting 5 Dec 2012

Namo Buddhaya.

 Every first Wednesday of the month, you are invited to join the SJBA Chantingfarers to chant the Bojjhanga Sutta & Metta Sutta for the well being of yourself or your loved ones.

However, as the names requested for radiating of Metta/Loving kindness are getting longer, we cordially request only those who are seriously ill, hospitalised or bed-ridden, before or post-surgery patients and those who cannot attend this Bojjhanga & Metta Chanting Session; be given their names to the Venerable Member of the Sangha for blessings.

Your cooperation is very much appreciated. Thank you.
