1. To-date SJBA have received donations of about RM 2.96 million for its Building Extension. The cost of construction of the new building is RM5 million. We look forward for more help to raise the balance in order for us to successfully complete the construction of the new building by June 2016.

2. Amongst various ways to raise funds for the construction of the new block, SJBA has an on-going “Donate a Brick” campaign. Each brick is RM100. The donors can write their name and sign on the bricks which will be used for the construction of the new block. For further information, please call Sis Lily at 03-56348181.

3. In conjunction with the 7th Lunar Month, SJBA is organising a Pattidana (Dedication of Merits) Ceremony on 23 August 2015 (Sunday) for the departed ones. When those departed relatives and friends, who may been reborn in certain unfortunate state of existence, become aware that their departed relatives performing meritorious deeds dedicated to them, they can feel relief. If they rejoice repeatedly, their unhappy birth can be transformed into a happy one. It is the duty of relatives to perform acts of merits for the departed ones. The program will start at 8.00am with the offering of flowers, candles and pure water, followed by Pindacara, chanting, Dhamma Talk, offering of requisites, dedication of merits to the departed ones and followed by Blessings by the Sangha and lunch dana. All are welcome to partake in this Pattidana

4. In conjunction with the 58th Merdeka Day Celebration in SJBA on 31 August 2013 and to encourage our members’ children to strive for excellence in their academic performance, SJBA will present Academic Excellence Awards to students who excelled in their examinations in 2014. The Awards will be given out on Merdeka Day, 31 August 2015.
On the same day, SJBA is also organizing a Blessings Service for students sitting for UPSR, PT3, SPM, STPM, etc. examinations this year. The Blessings will be conducted by the Venerable Sangha Members.

5. This Sunday (16/8/15, 10.00am) Dhamma Talk (in English) on the topic “Views on Evil and Unwholesomeness” by Bro Tan Siang Chye. Bro. Siang Chye graduated from Kent Institute, UK and with a Master degree from Massey University, New Zealand. He was a former Chairman of the Buddhist Missionary Youth Section and also the parent body, BMSM for one session. He is a striving meditator and has practised under several prominent meditation teachers locally and in New Zealand. Bro. Siang Chye is currently the Chairman of the Dhamma Committee of SJBA.

6. This Sunday’s Dhamma Talk in Mandarin (16/8/15, 11.30am) is on “Inspirational Stories” by Sis Tan Yee Yong. Sis Tan Yee Yong graduated with Bachelor of Science in Computer Sience and MBA. She obtained MA in Buddhist Studies from IBC, Thailand. She is now a Dhamma committee member of SJBA.

这个星期日的讲题是” 人生小故事”, 讲师是陈玉容居士. 玉容居士持有科学学士学位及商业硕士学位，在商业界工作。她曾经是我们首邦再也佛教会青年组主席，及佛法小组组长，在学佛路上，她持有佛教文凭及国际佛教大学佛教研究文科硕士。目前她是我们首邦再也佛教会佛法委会小组成员.

5. This Sunday (9/8/15, 10.00am) Dhamma Talk (in English) on the topic “Longing for Happiness” will be given by Venerable Mahacara who will be residing in SJBA for the Vassa (Rains Retreat). During this 3-month period, Venerable Mahacara will be cultivating himself in SJBA Vihara as well as teaching devotees the Dhamma.

6. This Sunday’s Dhamma Talk in Mandarin (at 11.30am) is on “Together We Make the Difference” by Chew Yee Yean. Sis Chew Yee Yean graduated from UKM. She is now working as a Senior Biochemist at UMMC.

4. SJBA is making invitation to Venerable Mahacara on 1 August 2015, Saturday, 8.30pm to enter Vassa (Rains Retreat) in SJBA. The program will include taking the 3 Refuges and observe the 5 Precepts, formal invitation to Venerable Mahacara to stay in SJBA for the 3-month Vassa, determination by the Venerable, offering of robes and requisites to the Sangha followed by chanting and sharing of merits. Members and devotees are invited to witness this Vassa Entry Ceremony.

Members and devotees are also invited to participate in the 5th Day Vassa Chanting on 5th August 2015, Wednesday, 7.30pm, to commemorate the day the Buddha taught the Anattalakkhana Sutta to His first 5 disciples of the Buddha who had by listening to this sermon, meditating on the five aggregates of clinging and realizing the higher stages of supramundane knowledge that lead them to the attainment of Arahantship.

Suh Chuen graduated with Bachelor of Science in Applied Science from TAR College and Masters in Technology (Environment Management) from University Malaya. She is an Environmental Consultant. She was the Dhammaduta Head of TAR College Buddhist Society and currently the Honorary Secretary of Kinrara Metta Buddhist Society (KMBS). Sis. Suh Chuen also teaches Sunday Dhamma class for adults at KMBS.

这个星期日的讲题是” 和谐的人生”, 讲师是黄淑娟居士黄淑娟居士毕业于拉曼学院, 持有应用科学学士学位及马来亚大学的科技(环境管理)硕士学位。她现今是一位环境顾问，注册于马来西亚环境部门。淑娟居士，出生于砂朥越州，在中学求学时，已开始学佛。她曾经是拉曼学院佛学会弘组主任和 Kinrara Metta Buddhist Society 的前任名誉秘书。目前，她志愿地为Kinrara Metta Buddhist Society 的成年人周日佛学班，分享佛法。

6. This Sunday (19/7/15, 10.00am) Dhamma Talk (in English) is on “Kamma” by Bro Mui Han. Bro Mui Han has been a Buddhist since the age of 13. He started active Buddhist work in his secondary school Buddhist Society. He was the President of St. John’s Institution Buddhist Society KL from 1993 – 1997. His other appointments include EDSG Director in Persatuan Buddhis UPM (PBUPM) in 1999/2000 and were a member of the first Nalanda Buddhist Society, Serdang (NBS) committee in 2003/2004, Committee member of Buddhist Missionary Society Malaysia (BMSM) Youth Section (2006-2010) and member of Aloka Foundation Management Committee (2008-2010).

Mui Han also co-founded a youth group in 1998 and was later formalize to be known as Dhammaduta Youths (D2Y) in 2000. D2Y have been running annual year-end Buddhist camps for secondary school students since 1998 till today. D2Y seeks contemporary ways of understanding the sublime Buddhist teachings through total engagement with youths. In experimenting with various forms of media (including an accapella choir group), D2Y challenges Buddhist Youths today to re-evaluate their principles in living, a competitive
and challenging world today.

1. SJBA is hosting a Dhamma Talk by Ven Dhammavuddho Mahathera on 27th June 2015 (Saturday), 8.30pm at SJBA Shrine Hall. The title of the Talk is “Characteristics of a Sotapanna”.
Venerable Dhammavuddho graduated from the University Malaya in 1971, and worked as an Electrical Engineer with the Public Works Department for 12 years. He was ordained as a monk in the Mahayana tradition in 1983. Three years later, he was re-ordained in the Theravada tradition in Thailand. Thereafter, he spent about 10 years living the solitary lifestyle in quiet places. He has written numerous booklets on Buddhism, e.g. Return to the Original Buddha’s Teachings, Message of the Buddha, Buddhist Monk’s Precepts, Liberation: Relevance of Sutta-Vinaya, Only We Can Help Ourselves, etc. In 1998, he established Vihara Buddha Gotama near Temoh, in Perak. Ven. Dhammavuddho is currently a Monastic Adviser of the Theravāda Buddhist Council of Malaysia.

2. SJBA’s building extension (a new 4-storey block with basement) officially commenced works on 8 March 2015. Piling work has already been completed and excavation works for the basement are in progress now. The cost of construction of the new building is RM5 million. To-date, we have received donations of about RM 2.8 million (with another RM216,000 in pledges, not collected). We appeal for help to raise the balance in order for us to successfully complete the construction of the new building by June 2016 (contractual completion date).

Sis Imee Ooi of “The Chant of Metta” fame as well as many other highly-praised musical works will be making a live appearance in her debut concert. A teacher, composer, producer, director and singer, Imee is serving the Dhamma with her extraordinary talent and voice. She is a Buddhist practitioner that adheres to the teachings of loving kindness, peace and harmony. Founder of IMM Musicworks in 1997, she has released more than 50 albums and has produced many musical works for many Buddhist societies and organizations. Her mission is in singing messages of peace, harmony and compassion or simply bringing healing sounds to her listeners through music.
Tickets are now available in SJBA (at RM100, RM150, RM200, RM250 and RM350). You can now have the opportunity to support the development of local Buddhist musical talents and performance arts as well as contributing to the building extension of SJBA Vihara.

5. This Sunday (28/6/15, 10am) Dhamma Talk (in English) will be given by Bro Teoh Kian Koon. Bro. Teoh Kian Koon graduated from University of Malaya in Civil Engineering in 1979. He had been a spiritual practitioner cum ‘Meditator’ since 1971. Since his retirement in 2001 from his engineering career, he has been sharing his understanding and experiences with all who are keen in the search for true happiness, peace and liberation from birth and death and all mental suffering to become a more virtuous, noble and wiser human being. He gives talks and hold meditation and Dhamma classes at various meditation centres.

Brother Chong Yuan Foong graduated from Hei Long Jiang University of Chinese Medicine, majoring in Acupuncture and Inner Medicine. He is now practicing at RenKang TCM Clinic in Klang and KL Karma Kagju Dharma Society as a volunteer TCM Master.

1) SJBA is organising an intensive Introduction to Meditation Course with meditation practice, conducted by our Abbot, Ven. Nyanaramsi over 2 weekends from 5 to 7 Jun and 12-14 Jun 2015.

Ven. Nyanaramsi was an accountant before he was ordained as Bhikkhu in 1995 at Chanmyay Yeiktha Meditation Centre, practicing under Sayadaw U Janakabhivamsa for a total of 9 years. Ven. Nyanaramsi was giving various support for foreign meditators in the Centre before accepting Subang Jaya Buddhist Association’s invitation to come back in 2003 to teach the Malaysian Buddhists. He travels frequently to other countries like Indonesia, Taiwan, Thailand, China, etc to teach meditation. For further information, please contact Sis. Lily at 03-56348181

1) The Selangor State Government, with the assistance from the Selangor Buddhist Development Council, is organizing a state-level Wesak Celebration on this Saturday, 9 May 2015, 7.00pm to 10.00pm at the Auditorium Dewan Jubli, SUK Shah Alam. The night will be filled with interesting cultural performances from local as well as from foreign countries like Japan, Korea, and Sri Lanka. Light dinner will be provided.

4) SJBA will be holding its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 24 May 2015,Sunday, at 9.30am. The Agenda include receiving and adopting the Executive Committee’s Annual Report, Audited Statement of Accounts, and deliberation of other matters as deemed fit by the Assembly. 5) This Sunday (10/5/15) Dhamma Talk (in English, 10am) will be given by Ven. Dhammapala. Ven. Dhammapala graduated in Pali and Buddhist Studies from the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka and received his Doctorate from the University of Hong Kong He has been lecturing in the University of Hong Kong and has presented a number of papers. He is currently the Spritual Director of Buddhistdoor. Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong University Centre of Buddhist Studies Alumini Association and Director of a few Buddhist-based organisations.

6) This Sunday’s (10/5/15) Dhamma Talk in Mandarin (at 11.30am) is on “Living Harmoniously” by Sis Wong Suh Chuen. Sis. Suh Chuen graduated with Bachelor of Science in Applied Science from TAR College and Masters in Technology (Environment Management) from University Malaya. She is an Environmental Consultant. She was the Dhammaduta Head of TAR College Buddhist Society and currently the Honorary Secretary of Kinrara Metta Buddhist Society (KMBS). Sis. Suh Chuen also teaches Sunday Dhamma class for adults at KMBS.

1) SJBA’s building extension (a new 4-storey block with basement) has officially commenced works on 8 March 2015. Amongst various ways to raise funds for the construction of the new block, SJBA has an on-going “Donate a Brick” campaign. Each brick is RM100. The donors can write their name and sign on the bricks which will be used for the construction of the new block. For further information, please call Sis Lily at 01-56348181.

2) Another Temple Building Extension Fund Raising effort is through “Imee Ooi Concert – Sound of Wisdom” on 1 August 2015, Saturday, 3.00pm at Istana Budaya. Sis Imee Ooi of “The Chant of Metta” fame as well as many other highly-praised musical works will be making a live appearance in her debut concert. A teacher, composer, producer, director and singer, Imee is serving the Dhamma with her extraordinary talent and voice. She is a Buddhist practitioner that adheres to the teachings of loving kindness, peace and harmony. Founder of IMM Musicworks in 1997, she has released more than 50 albums and has produced many musical works for many Buddhist societies and organizations. Her mission is in singing messages of peace, harmony and compassion or simply bringing healing sounds to her listeners through music. Tickets are now available in SJBA (at RM100, RM150, RM200, RM250 and RM350). You can now have the opportunity to support the development of local Buddhist musical talents and performance arts as well as contributing to the building extension of SJBA Vihara.

3) This year’s Wesak day falls on 3rd May 2015. Our Wesak Celebration will start on Wesak Eve, 2nd May with lighting of Blessings Oil Lamps at 7.30pm followed by Wesak Eve Buddha Puja, Dhamma Talk, Procession Round the Vihara and Bodhi Tree, Chanting and Meditation. On Wesak Day, Puja Service will commence at 8.00am followed by the official launching of the Wesak Day Celebration at 9.45am. Blessings Service will be carried by the Maha Sangha.
On this Wesak Day, everyone has the opportunity to do good deeds of great merits by contributing to build our temple extension. From 11.00am to 2.30pm, vegetarian food will be provided. There will be a Blood Donation & Organ Pledge Campaign, Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnosis and treatment for those needing such services. 4) This Sunday’s (26/4/15) Dhamma Talk (in English, 10am) will be given by Bro Billy Tan. Bro. Billy Tan is a Professional Trainer and Business Development Consultant who has trained countless corporate executives and business professionals in more than 20 countries over the past three decades. Bro. Billy is a Certified Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), as well as being certified by the International Association of Counselors and Therapists, USA, in Clinical Hypnotherapy. In recent years Bro. Billy has conducted several professional training programs for resident and visiting Monks at the Buddhist Maha Vihara, Brickfields, in the areas of Emotional Intelligence, Communication, Professional Presentation, Public Relations, Community Services, Leadership, and Management. In sharing the Dhamma, Bro. Billy researches discoveries from the fields of Neuroscience and Psychology to present teachings of the Buddha from a scientific perspective.

师是黄淑娟居士黄淑娟居士毕业于拉曼学院, 持有应用科学学士学位及马来亚大学的科技(环境管理)硕士学位。她现今是一位环境顾问，注册于马来西亚环境部门。淑娟居士，出生于砂朥越州，在中学求学时，已开始学佛。她曾经是拉曼学院佛学会弘组主任和 Kinrara Metta Buddhist Society 的前任名誉秘书。目前，她志愿地为Kinrara Metta Buddhist Society 的成年人周日佛学班，分享佛法。
