image0011) SJBA will be organizing the Introduction to Buddhism course from 6 March to 24 April 2015. The course will run for 8 consecutive Fridays from 8.30pm to 10.00pm and will be conducted by Uncle Vijaya, Dr. Chan Kah Yein and Datuk Charlie Chia. All are welcome. No pre-registration is required. 2) SJBA cordially invite all members and devotees, relatives and friends to join our “Gong Xi, Gong Xi” Potluck dinner on this Saturday, 28 February 2015 to celebrate the Chinese New Year, promote fellowship as we enjoy the various program planned for the night together and bring some cheer to about 45 elderly folks from the Old Folks Home. You may give angpows to the elderly folks who are from Persatuan Kebajikan Ci Hang Chempaka.

Please come with your family, friends and neighbors to join us in our celebration. Dinner is provided, however you may bring some desserts to share. The highlights for the night are Lion Dance, Fireworks Display & Sing Along Session.

The program is as follows:

6.00 pm: Arrival of our guests from Ci-Hang

6.15 pm: Dinner for our guests from Ci-Hang

7.00 pm: Puja at Shrine Hall followed by CNY Blessings by Venerable Monk

7.30 pm: Dinner for Members & Devotees

8.10 pm: Lion Dance followed by Fireworks Display

9.00 pm: Performances & Sing Along Session

4) This Sunday’s Dhamma Talk in English (1 March, 10.00am) is on “Investigate First or Just Believe – Sutta Selection” by Bro Ananda Fong. Bro. Ananda Fong is the former Deputy Principal of the Buddhist Institute Sunday Dhamma School (BISDS) at the Buddhist Maha Vihara (BMV), Brickfields, KL. He is also the ex-Principal of Bandar Utama Buddhist Society (BUBS) Sunday Dhamma School, PJ. and President of BUBS. During his service in BISDS and BUBS, he was the co-organizer and co-facilitator of Dhamma School Teachers Training Programs.

Bro Ananda has served as a facilitator/tutor in Dhamma Speakers Training programs, Diploma in Buddhism programs (Buddhist And Pali University (BAPU), Sri Lanka), and Nalanda Institute’s Certificate in Buddhist Studies program. He is currently the Honorary Secretary General of the Theravada Buddhist Council of Malaysia. He gives Dhamma Sharings regularly at Buddhist organisations in the Klang Valley.

4) This Sunday’s Dhamma Talk in English (15 Feb, 10.00am) is on “Celebrating Chinese New Year the Dhamma Way” by Bro Teoh Kian Koon. Bro. Teoh Kian Koon graduated from University of Malaya in Civil Engineering in 1979. He had been a spiritual practitioner cum ‘Meditator’ since 1971. Since his retirement in 2001 from his engineering career, he has been sharing his understanding and experiences with all who are keen in the search for true happiness, peace and liberation from birth and death and all mental suffering to become a more virtuous, noble and wiser human being. He gives talks and hold meditation and Dhamma classes at various meditation centres.

5) This Sunday’s Dhamma Talk in Mandarin (15 Feb, 11.30am) is on “Together We Make the Difference” by Chew Yee Yean. Sis Chew Yee Yean graduated from UKM. She is now working as a Senior Biochemist at UMMC.

Dhamma Talk by Bhante Sujatha Thero

Wednesday, 24 Sep 2014:
Bhante Sujatha Thero shared a evening of Dhamma in a lighthearted and fun manner, complete with his easy to recall analogies of the “Owl”, and “Volcano”. Bhante shared candidly and from the bottom of his heart – his journey to USA and Buddhism, from his adoption by a Zen teacher, learning English from children, providing meditation classes in a church and more.

Monks and Nuns Pindapata 2014

Sunday, 16 November 2014:

SJBA held Pindapata (going for alms round) for 34 monks and nuns in conjunction with SJBA’s Nun’s Novitiate Program 2014.

This Pindapata was an overwhelming success, and we have so many devotees lining the streets of Section 14/1 and 14/2, Subang Jaya to offer food and requisites generously.

The Organising Committee and Exco of Subang Jaya Buddhist Association (SJBA), would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude and thanks to all who have contributed towards this meritorious deed.

Dana for Flood Victims

FLOOD RELIEF AID
Latest updates:

We are please to announce that all the donated food, water etc had been safely delivered to the flood victims in Kuala Krai with 14 Hilux and a 3-ton lorry.

In addition, we received cash donation of RM32,658. Of this, RM5,000 was used to purchase additional items for the flood victims.

A sum of RM22,438 is for SRJK (C) Yuk Chai and the balance RM5,220 will be given to SJK (C) Kuala Krau for purchase of 9 notice boards, etc.

EDUCARE 2014
Distribution of School Items to Needy Malaysian Students
on Sunday, 14 Dec 2014 @9.00am.
at SJBA Vihara

Educare was initiated by Venerable B. Saranankara Nayara Maha Thero of the Sri Lanka Buddhist Temple in Sentul in 2001, with the objective to relief the financial burden of parents by distributing school items to their children to begin a new school term.

Starting from 2006, Subang Jaya Buddhist Association organise this meritorious project. This year, Subang Jaya Buddhist Association is distributing school items to an estimated 600 needy students in Subang Jaya / USJ / Sunway / Sungei Wei and rural areas.

We strongly believe our noble task can be achieved with the continuous support of generous Organisations, Donors, Devotees and Well Wishes.
