The Retreat will be conducted by Venerable Sayadaw U Sobhita from Chanmyay Yeiktha Meditation Centre, assisted by Venerable Sayadaw Pyinnyarnanda and our Abbot, Ven. Nyanaramsi. If you wish to join in the retreat as yogi or wish to a helper or sponsor food for the monks and yogis, and other expenses during the Retreat, please contact our Office Administrator.

2) This year SJBA Educare Program in SJBA will be held on 6 December 2015 to provide poor students with school items to start the new school term. It is expected that about 500 to 600 needy students will receive the school items on 6 December 2015. Each student will receive a full set of school items which consists of school bags, shoes, books, stationary, etc. which costs about RM100.00. The amount may not be a lot but it is a simple yet significant gesture of ours to show our care and concern to poor students. 3) SJBA is organising this New Year Eve with a 8-course Fun & Fund Raising Dinner in SJBA Vihara. SJBA brings to you the best from Sekinchan, a sumptuous dinner prepared by the famous Hao Xiang Chi restaurant, Sekinchan at RM800 per table/RM80 per pax. The evening shall start with Puja at 7.00pm. During dinner there will be performances, karaoke competition with prizes and lucky draws.

5) The Dhamma Talk in English this Sunday (15 November 2015, 10am) is on “Harmonious Speech” by Sis. Tan Yee Yong. Sis Tan Yee Yong graduated with Bachelor of Science in Computer Sience and MBA. She obtained MA in Buddhist Studies from IBC, Thailand. She is a former Chairperson of SJBA Youth Section and now serve in SJBA Dhamma Committee.

It is expected that about 500 to 600 needy students will receive the school items on 6 December 2015. Each student will receive a full set of school items which consists of school bags, shoes, books, stationary, etc. which costs about RM100.00. The amount may not be a lot but it is a simple yet significant gesture of ours to show our care and concern to poor students. We hope that through this simple but sincere gesture, the students are motivated to study better and achieve academic success and eventually success in life.

5) The Dhamma Talk in English this Sunday (15 November 2015, 10am) is on “The Four Noble Truth” by SJBA Abbot, Ven. Nyanaramsi. Ven. Nyanaramsi was an accountant in Malaysia before he was ordained in 1995 at the Chanmyay Yeiktha Meditation Centre in Yangon, Myanmar with Venerable Chanmyay Yeiktha Sayadaw U Janakabhivamsa as his preceptor. He had also studied the Dhamma and meditation under Sayadaw U Indaka and other Sayadaws in Myanmar. Ven Nyanaramsi spent 9 vassas in Myanmar before he accepted an invitation from SJBA to come back to Malaysia in 2003 to teach the Dhamma and meditation to Malaysian Buddhists. Ven Nyanaramsi is now the Abbot of Subang Jaya Vihara. He travels frequently to Taiwan, Thailand, Myanmar and Indonesia to conduct meditation retreats.

2. This year’s Kathina Ceremony in SJBA will be held this Sunday (8 November 2015). Kathina is a traditional Buddhist Ceremony started by the Buddha Himself for lay devotees to offer robes and other requisites to the Sangha at the end of Vassa (rainy season).

The Ceremony will begin on Kathina Eve (Saturday, 7 November 2015) with Taking The Three Refuges Five Precepts before the Sangha at 8.00pm followed by Paritta Chanting, Dhamma Talk by Ven. Nyanaramsi, Blessings by the Sangha and Sharing of Merits.

On Kathina Day, the Ceremony will commence at 8.15am with the Taking of the Three Refuges and Observance of the Five Precepts administered by the Sangha, Offering of Robes and other Requisites, Sharing of Merits and Lunch Dana. A blood donation campaign will also be held on this auspicious day. Please come and join us to perform these meritorious deeds together.

image00141. The Intermediate Course on Buddhism running for 6 consecutive Fridays from 8.30pm to 10.00pm will end on 6 November 2015. The course covers Buddhist views on contemporary issues and Buddhist living. On this Friday (30 Oct) the topic is “Living Harmoniously with Nature” by Datuk Charlie Chia. 5. This Sunday’s Dhamma Talk (1/11/15, 10am) will be given by Ven. Mahacara who is residing in SJBA for the Vassa (Rains Retreat). During this 3-month period, Venerable Mahacara will be cultivating himself in SJBA Vihara as well as teaching devotees the Dhamma.

6.This Sunday’s Dhamma Talk in Mandarin (1/11/15at 11.30am) is on “Wise Effort” by Sis Wong Suh Chuen. Sis. Suh Chuen graduated with Bachelor of Science in Applied Science from TAR College and Masters in Technology (Environment Management) from University Malaya. She is an Environmental Consultant. She was the Dhammaduta Head of TAR College Buddhist Society and former Honorary Secretary of Kinrara Metta Buddhist Society (KMBS). Currently, Sis. Suh Chuen teaches Sunday Dhamma class for adults at KMBS.

It will be the 8th anniversary of the Program in SJBA.This year SJBA will provide 530 needy students with school items to start the new school term. Each student will receive a full set of school items which consists of school bags, shoes, books, stationary, etc. We hope this will motivate the students to study better and achieve academic success and eventually success in life. Thank you to all of you who have contributed generously to help these needy students. You are invited to come and witness the giving away of the school items to the students. 5) This morning’s Chanting and Meditation will be led by Sayadaw U Rewata. Sayadaw U Rewata was born in 1955 in Thonse, Myanmar. He graduated in 1980 with Bachelor of Science at the Rangoon University. He was ordained in 1983. He followed Pariyatti and Patipatti under the guidance of Most Venerable Chanmyay Sayadaw U Janaka Bhivamsa. He has travelled widely to many countries like Japan, USA, Canada, India, etc for missionary work, teaching Metta Bhavana, Vipassana Bhavana, Suttanta Recitations, etc. He served as the Abbot in Hmawbi, Yangon in 2004 to 2006, and also has been the Abbot of the Satipatthana Vipassana Association, Springfield, USA.

Sayadaw U Rewata is currently in Subang Jaya Buddhist Association to support its Dhamma missionary work May You Be Well & Happy, Always!

5) This morning’s (30 November 2014) Dhamma Talk will be given by Bro Tan Siang Chye. Bro. Siang Chye graduated from Kent Institute, UK and with a Master degree from Massey University, New Zealand. He was a former Chairman of the Buddhist Missionary Youth Section and also the parent body, BMSM for one session. He is a striving meditator and has practised under several prominent meditation teachers locally and in New Zealand. Bro. Siang Chye is currently the Chairman of the Dhamma Committee of SJBA.

image0011) The Buddhist Nuns’ Novitiate Program in Subang Jaya Buddhist Association will end this Sunday. As part of the closing program, the Buddhist novice nuns will be led by members of the Sangha to go for alms round (pindacara) starting 8am, along the route from SJBA Vihara, crossing the overhead pedestrian bridge, walking along Jalan SS14/2 to the SS14/2 shop-lots area and then back to SJBA Vihara again at 10am. Offering of alms (pindapatta) is a practice since the time of the Buddha for devotees to offer food and medicine to the monastics. In return the monastics provide guidance to the laypeople on the Buddha Dhamma thus forging a symbiotic relationship.

Members and devotees are invited to partake in this meaningful and meritorious deed this Sunday. Thereafter, the program will include community reflection on the significance of pindapatta & the field of merits, lunch dana and blessings. Members and devotees are also invited to invite to witness the closing ceremony at 2pm at SJBA Shrine Hall.

image00141) Subang Jaya Buddhist Association is co-organising with the Bodhinyana International Foundation, Australia and the Centre of Mindfulness Limited, Hong Kong, the 1st Buddhist Nuns’ Novitiate Programme in the Theravada Tradition on 7–16 November 2014, under the guidance of Bhikkhuni Hasapanna, Venerable Dhammapala with Ajahn Brahm as the Spiritual Director. This Program will be sponsored by SJBA and the Hong Kong Society of Dhamma Supporters but donations towards the costs of running this Novitiate Programme will be most appreciated. 2) This year’s Educare Program in SJBA will be held on 14th December 2014. It will be the 8th anniversary of the Program in SJBA. For the last 7 years, we have been providing needy students with school items to start the new school term. It is expected that about 500 to 600 needy students will receive the school items this year. Each student will receive a full set of school items which consists of school bags, shoes, books, stationary, etc. which costs about RM100.00. The amount may not be a lot but it is a simple yet significant gesture of ours to show our care and concern to poor students. We hope that through this simple but sincere gesture, the students are motivated to study better and achieve academic success and eventually success in life. This noble task can be achieved with the continuous support of generous Donors. If you wish to contribute this year to the Educare Program to support the needy students, please contact Sis Lily at Tel. 03-56315299.

3) This year’s Annual Vipassana Meditation Retreat at SJBA will be from 12th December 2014 to 22nd December 2014. The Retreat will be conducted by Venerable Sayadaw U Sobhita and Sayadaw U Rewata from Chanmyay Yeiktha Meditation Centre. If you wish to join in the retreat as yogi or wish to a helper or sponsor food for the monks and yogis, and other expenses during the Retreat, please contact our Office Administrator.

4) This Sunday’s Dhamma Talk in English (at 10.00am) is on “The Development of Calmness and Insight in Daily Life” by Ajahn Wimoak. Ajahn Vimoak is the Abbot of Wat Pipphalivanaram in Rayong, Bangkok. He obtained his Doctorate (PhD) and MA in Buddhism from Mahachulangkorn University, Thailand. He has vast experience in Insight Meditation gained from practising under various meditation masters among them Luang Pu Kasspamurni and Luang Pu Tean. He has extensive experience in teaching Insight Meditation and has been engaged by numerous organisations including Dhammasathan in Chulalongkorn University. He has designed and conducted the popular programme Development of Mindfulness and Awareness in the work place for large private corporations across Thailand.

5) This Sunday’s Dhamma Talk in Mandarin (at 11.30am) is on “Dealing with Sickness” by Sis Tan Yee Yong. Sis Tan Yee Yong graduated with Bachelor of Science in Computer Sience and MBA. She obtained MA in Buddhist Studies from IBC, Thailand. She is now a Dhamma committee member of SJBA. 这个星期日的讲题是” 如何与病相处”, 讲师是陈玉容居士. 玉容居士持有科学学士学位及商业硕士学位，在商业界工作。她曾经是我们首邦再也佛教会青年组主席，及佛法小组组长 ，在学佛路上， 她持有佛教文凭及国际佛教大学佛教研究文科硕士 。目前她是我们首邦再也佛教会 佛法委会小组成员.
