SJBA Educare Program on 6th December 2015

This year SJBA Educare Program in SJBA will be held on 6 December 2015 to provide poor students with school items to start the new school term. It is expected that about 500 to 600 needy students will receive the school items on 6 December 2015. Each student will receive a full set of school items which consists of school bags, shoes, books, stationary, etc. which costs about RM100.00. The amount may not be a lot but it is a simple yet significant gesture of ours to show our care and concern to poor students. We hope that through this simple but sincere gesture, the students are motivated to study better and achieve academic success and eventually success in life.

SJBA is organizing a durian “ makan-makan “ for all devotees/friends
Eat as much as you can within 1 hour for each session.

Normal Durians

Time / Session I : 1.00pm – 2.00pm
Time / Session II : 2.15pm – 3.15pm

Children (10 and below): RM10

It is expected that about 500 to 600 needy students will receive the school items. Each student will receive a full set of school items which consists of school bags, shoes, books, stationary, etc. which costs about RM108.00. We hope that through this simple but sincere gesture, the students are motivated to study better and achieve academic success and eventually success in life. This meritorious deed can be achieved with the support of generous Organizations, Donors, Devotees and Well Wishers. Your contributions to support one or more of the students would be much appreciated. You are also welcome to witness the handing over of the school items to the students.

2) This morning’s (8 December 2013) Dhamma Talk will be given by SJBA Abbot, Ven. Nyanaramsi. Ven. Nyanaramsi was an accountant in Malaysia before he was ordained in 1995 at the Chanmyay Yeiktha Meditation Centre in Yangon, Myanmar with Venerable Chanmyay Yeiktha Sayadaw U Janakabhivamsa as his preceptor. He had also studied the Dhamma and meditation under Sayadaw U Indaka and other Sayadaws in Myanmar. Ven Nyanaramsi spent 9 vassas in Myanmar before he accepted an invitation from SJBA to come back to Malaysia in 2003 to teach the Dhamma and meditation to Malaysian Buddhists. Ven Nyanaramsi is now the Abbot of Subang Jaya Vihara He travels frequently to Taiwan, Thailand, Myanmar and Indonesia to conduct meditation retreats..

The Launching of Mandarin Dhamma Puja and Talk

10th March 2013 the launching of Mandarin Dhamma Puja & Talk at the Vihara Main Hall. Speaker is sis. Yee Yong who delivered pertinent pointers on the topic of ‘The Meaning of Life’! She illustrated through ‘storytelling of a couple’s life from young to old age and death; through a ticking pendulum swing clock – 3 minutes in cartoon form. She also gave practical insight through questions posed to the audience present eg; How long do U want to live your life? 60, 70, 80? How do U want to ‘live your life’? What is the % chance of us being born a ‘human being’ in our next life?
Why are there so many suicide cases of young people currently, what happened to ‘them’…is it because of problems & challenges they cannot accept…or is it they do not understand the real meaning of life itself? If our role is being a mother, a son or a daughter…we should dutifully fulfilled our role diligently as given in this present life. As a Buddhist or through Dhamma cultivation how do U want to live your life???

ANNOUNCEMENTS (21st February, Thursday)

1) The Traditional Chinese Medicine Service in SJBA will resume this Saturday 23rd February. It is another community service for our members and devotees with SJBA arranging with 2 experienced Chinese Physicians qualified in Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment to give treatment to those with certain sicknesses and bodily ache/pain, every Saturday, 9am to 12pm, at SJBA.

2) SJBA cordially invite all members and devotees, relatives and friends to join our “Gong Xi, Gong Xi” Potluck Dinner this Saturday 23rd February 2013 to celebrate the Chinese New Year together and promote fellowship as we enjoy the various program planned for the night together with about 40 guests from the Ci Hang Old Folks Home. The program include New Year Blessings at 7.00pm followed by, Dinner, Lion Dance, Fireworks Display, Performances by SJBA Choir, YS and Sing-along. All are welcome. You can also give angpows to the Old Folks to cheer them up.

3) SJBA will be organizing the Introduction to Buddhism course from 1 March to 19 April 2013. The course will run for 8 consecutive Fridays from 8.30pm to 10.00pm and will be conducted by Uncle Vijaya, Bro Charlie Chia and Dr Chan Kah Yein. All are welcome. No pre-registration is required. 1) This year’s Educare Program in SJBA will be held on 9th December 2012, to provide needy students with school items to start the new school term. It is expected that about 500 to 600 needy students will receive the school items. Each student will receive a full set of school items which consists of school bags, shoes, books, stationary, etc. which costs about RM108.00. The amount may not be a lot but it is a simple yet significant gesture of ours to show our care and concern to poor students. We hope that through this simple but sincere gesture, the students are motivated to study better and achieve academic success and eventually success in life. This noble task has been achieved for the last 6 years due to the continuous support of generous Organizations, Donors, Devotees and Well Wishers. If you wish to donate for one or more students’ school items, you may do so at SJBA Office or call 03-56348181.

2) This year’s Annual Vipassana Meditation Retreat at SJBA will be held from 6th to 15th December 2012. The Retreat will be conducted by Venerable Sayadaw U Sobhita from Chanmyay Yeiktha Meditation Centre, assisted by Sayadaw U Rewata and Ven Nyanaramsi. Sayadaw U Sobhita was born in 1951 in Pha-an, Karen State, Myanmar. He was ordained as a bhikkhu at the age of 20. He has taught meditation in many places including the Mahasi Meditation Centre. He has been an Assistant to Sayadaw U Janakabhivamsa since 1988.
If you wish to join in the retreat as yogi or wish to a helper or sponsor food for the monks and yogis, and other expenses during the Retreat, please contact Sis Lily at 03-56348181.

3) The Fo Guang Shan Malaysia invites fellow Buddhists to their Buddhist Cultural & Dharma Blessing Function with a Triple Gem Refuge & Five Precepts Ceremony presided by Ven Hsing Yun (the founder of the Fo Guang Shan as well as their affiliated Buddha’s Light International). The event will be held at the Stadium Shah Alam on 24/11/12 (Sat), 7pm. Admission is by tickets (FOC) and the tickets can be obtained from SJBA Office. If you need bus transport, you may also register with Sis Lily.

4) This morning’s Dhamma Talk will be given by Ven. Sayadaw U Rewata.
