1) SJBA will host a special Dhamma Talk on “Why the 4 Ariya Truths is the Most Important Dhamma” by Ven. Dhammavuddho Maha Thera on Saturday, 17 June 2017, 8.30pm to 10.00pm at SJBA Shrine Hall. Ven. Dhammavuddho Maha Thera graduated from the University Malaya in 1971 and worked as an Electrical Engineer with the Public Works Department for 12 years before renouncing the home life. He was the Founder of the Vihara Buddha Gotama and is a Monastic Advisor of the Theravada Buddhist Council of Malaysia. He has written numerous books on Buddhism, eg. Return to the original Buddha’s Teachings, Message of the Buddha, Buddhist Monks’ Precepts, Liberation: Relevance of Sutta Vinaya, Only We Can Help Ourselves, etc
2) All devotees are welcome to our Monday Metta Meditation session at SJBA Meditation Hall from 8.30pm to 9.45pm. This cultivation of metta focus on loving kindness to oneself, loved ones and all other beings. On every 1st Monday starting 5 June 2017, our Resident Monk will be guiding the meditators especially the newcomers.
3) SJBA is planning to have Day Retreat during New Moon and Full Moon Days from 9am to 5pm starting from 9 June 2017. The Retreat is free and easy and participants can feel free to join in or leave any time. Vegetarian lunch will be provided.
4) This Sunday’s Dhamma Talk (10am, 11 June 2017) will be given by Bro Tan Siang Chye. Title of talk for this Sunday is “Contentment.” Bro. Siang Chye graduated from Kent Institute, UK and with a Master degree from Massey University, New Zealand. He was a former Chairman of SJBA Dhamma Committee. He is a striving meditator and has practised under several prominent meditation teachers locally and in New Zealand.

image00141) To-date SJBA have received donations of about RM 3.23 million for its Building Extension. The cost of construction of the extension block is RM5 million (not including interior design works). We look forward for more help to raise the balance in order for us to successfully complete the construction of the new building.

2) This year’s Annual Vipassana Meditation Retreat will be held at SJBA from 18th to 27th December 2015. The Retreat will be conducted by Venerable Sayadaw U Sobhita from Chanmyay Yeiktha Meditation Centre, assisted by Venerable Sayadaw Pyinnyarnanda and our Abbot, Ven. Nyanaramsi. If you wish to join in the retreat as yogi or wish to a helper or sponsor food for the monks and yogis, and other expenses during the Retreat, please contact our Office Administrator.

3) This year SJBA Educare Program in SJBA will be held on 6 December 2015 to provide poor students with school items to start the new school term. It is expected that about 500 to 600 needy students will receive the school items on 6 December 2015. Each student will receive a full set of school items which consists of school bags, shoes, books, stationary, etc. which costs about RM100.00. The amount may not be a lot but it is a simple yet significant gesture of ours to show our care and concern to poor students. We hope that through this simple but sincere gesture, the students are motivated to study better and achieve academic success and eventually success in life. 4) SJBA is organising this New Year Eve with a 8-course Fun & Fund Raising Dinner in JBA Vihara. SJBA brings to you the best from Sekinchan, a sumptuous dinner prepared by the famous Hao Xiang Chi restaurant, Sekinchan at RM800 per table/RM80 per pax. The evening shall start with Puja at 7.00pm. During dinner there will be performances, karaoke competition with prizes and lucky draws.

5) The Sunday Puja Session in Mandarin will be off until January 2016.

6) This Sunday (29 November 2015) Dhamma Talk is on “Understanding the Essence of the Buddha’s Teaching” by Bro Teoh Kian Koon. Bro. Teoh Kian Koon graduated from University of Malaya in Civil Engineering in 1979. He had been a spiritual practitioner cum ‘Meditator’ since 1971. Since his retirement in 2001 from his engineering career, he has been sharing his understanding and experiences with all who are keen in the search for true happiness, peace and liberation from birth and death and all mental suffering to become a more virtuous, noble and wiser human being. He gives talks and hold meditation and Dhamma classes at various meditation centres.

3) Buddha Puja in Mandarin (11.30am) will resume today (6 April 2014). The Dhamma Talk in Mandarin today (at 11.30am) is on “Faith” by Chew Yee Yean. Sis Chew Yee Yean graduated from UKM. She is now working as a Senior Biochemist at UMMC.

4) The Dhamma Talk in English this morning (6 April 2014) will be given by SJBA Abbot, Ven. Nyanaramsi. Ven. Nyanaramsi was an accountant in Malaysia before he was ordained in 1995 at the Chanmyay Yeiktha Meditation Centre in Yangon, Myanmar with Venerable Chanmyay Yeiktha Sayadaw U Janakabhivamsa as his preceptor. He had also studied the Dhamma and meditation under Sayadaw U Indaka and other Sayadaws in Myanmar. Ven Nyanaramsi spent 9 vassas in Myanmar before he accepted an invitation from SJBA to come back to Malaysia in 2003 to teach the Dhamma and meditation to Malaysian Buddhists. Ven Nyanaramsi is now the Abbot of Subang Jaya Vihara He travels frequently to Taiwan, Thailand, Myanmar and Indonesia to conduct meditation retreats.

She is the founder of AnimalCare, a charity for stray animals. She also gives public talks on ways to lead a more spiritually fulfilling life. To date, she has written eight books and many of her talks have been produced on audio CDs, all, for free distribution. With a love for all things small and simple, her motto is to embrace simplicity and travel light in life.

image00141) In conjunction with Qing Ming, SJBA is organising a Pattidana on this Sunday, 23rd March 2014 to dedicate merits to the departed ones. Pattidana is for the benefit of those departed relatives and friends who may have been reborn in certain unfortunate state of existence. When they are aware that their relatives or friends have performed some meritorious deeds dedicated to them, they can be relieved of their suffering. When they rejoice repeatedly, their unhappy birth will be transformed to a happy one. It is the duty of relatives to perform these acts of merits for the departed ones. The Pattidana will start with the offering of flowers and lights at 8am, Metta Recitation, Buddha Puja, Dhamma Talk by Bhante Nyanaramsi followed by Dedication of Merits to Departed Ones.

image00141) SJBA is celebrating our country’s 56th Merdeka Day on 31st August 2013 (Saturday), The Celebration will start with a Merdeka Breakfast at 7.45am, followed by Flag Raising Ceremony at 8.30am, Blessings by the Venerable Monks, cutting of Merdeka cake and fellowship. Members and devotees are invited to join us for the Celebration. The occasion will be graced by the Speaker of the Selangor State Assembly, YB Hannah Yeoh. To encourage our members’ children to strive for excellence in their academic performance, SJBA will present Academic Excellence Awards to students who excelled in their examinations in 2012. The Awards will be given out on Merdeka Day, 31st August 2013. For more information, please call Sis. Lily at tel. 03-56315299;

On the same day, SJBA is also organizing a Blessings Service for students sitting for UPSR, PMR, SPM, STPM, and other examinations this year. The Blessings will be conducted by the Venerable Sangha Members.

2) SJBA will be organising an Intermediate Course on Buddhism from 13 September to 18 October 2013. The course will run for 6 consecutive Fridays from 8.30pm to 10.00pm and will be conducted by Uncle Vijaya, Bro Charlie Chia and Dr Chan Kah Yein. 3) As another community service, SJBA will jointly organize with the Jawatankuasa Penduduk Subang Jaya-MPSJ Zon 1 to provide 1-day Traditional Chinese Medicine Service to the public FOC on 14th September 2013, at the SS15 MPSJ Multi-purpose Hall from 9am to 3pm. Experienced Chinese Physicians qualified in Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment will give treatment to those with certain sicknesses and bodily ache/pain, including diagnosis, acupuncture or other treatment, and medicine. Members, devotees and members of the public are invited to come for this day of FOC Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment, which will be given on a first-come-first-serve basis up to a maximum of 80 patients only.

4) SJBA is organizing a Family Night of Joy and Fellowship on 14th September 2013 in conjunction with the Lantern Festival, to promote fellowship amongst our devotees. Activities include lantern procession round the temple playground and performances. Children from orphanages as well as guests from the Old Folks Home will be invited. Members and devotees will get the opportunity to perform Dana by fulfilling the wishes of these underprivileged children. This is a Family Night, so please bring along your family and friends as well to participate in all the fun/joy activities planned for you.. Dinner will be served. You may also bring your food to share with others.

He has been an Assistant to the Most Venerable Chanmyay Sayadaw (Sayadaw U Janakabhivamsa) since 1988. He travels to Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia frequently to conduct meditation retreats.

Sayadaw U Rewata graduated in 1980 with Bachelor of Science at the Rangoon University. He was ordained in 1983. He followed Pariyatti and Patipatti under the guidance of Most Venerable Chanmyay Sayadaw. He has travelled widely to many countries like Japan, USA, Canada, India for missionary works and teaching meditation. He has served as the Abbot in Hmawbi, Yangon and Abbot of the Satipatthana Vipassana Association, Springfield, USA. Sayadaw U Rewata is currently in SJBA to support its Dhamma missionary work.

4) This morning’s Mandarin Dhamma Talk (28 July 2013) @11.30am will be given by Ven. Zong Qian Shi (×ÚǧÊÍ) on “The Six Principles of Harmony”

Shifu Zong Qian, whose maiden name is Sujata Yiddham, was born in Thailand in 1981. She graduated with a Higher Diploma in Hotel and Hospitality Programme and a Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching. In 2004, she resigned from her job and spent two years helping Venerable Dhammananda, (a Theravadian nun) in the Buddhist Woman Residence project and later became a Thai nun (mae chee).

In 2009, Shifu Zong Qian met her current Teacher, Ming Cen Shifu (Ã÷á¯Ê¦¸¸), and in 2010 became a Samaneri at Xiang Lin Lan Ruo nunnery (ÂíÀ´Î÷ÑÇÏãÁÖÀ¼ÈôËÂÔº) in Bukit Mertajam, Malaysia. She finally received her full Bhikkhuni’s ordination in 2011 at Fo Guang Shan Monastery in Taiwan.

Please invite your Mandarin speaking relatives and friends to join us. The gift of the Dhamma is the highest gift.

image00141) SJBA new course on “What Buddhists Believe” will be on every Friday, 8.30pm until 23rd Aug 2013 at our Shrine Hall. This Course covers the Fundamental Concepts of Buddhism. The Course will be conducted by Bro Ananda Fong and Bro Tan Siang Chye. On this coming Friday (26/7/13) Bro Siang Chye will discuss on “The Happiness Recipe” (Note: Topic on 19/7/13 is ” Rebirth ; I have been here before” by Bro Ananda Fong)

2) SJBA is inviting Ven. Sayadaw U Rewata on 22nd July 2013 (Monday), 7.30pm to enter Vassa (on 23rd July) in SJBA. The program will include taking the 3 Refuges and observe the 5 Precepts, formal invitation to the Sangha Members to stay in SJBA for the 3-month Vassa (so that we can organise the Kathina), determination by the Sangha, offering of robes and requisites to the Sangha followed by sharing of merits. Members and devotees are invited to witness this Vassa Entry Ceremony (which also commemorate the First Sermon (Dhammacakkapavattana Sutta by the Buddha) and also to participate in the 5th Day Vassa Chanting on 27th July 2013, Saturday, 7.30pm, to commemorate the day the Buddha taught the Anattalakkhana Sutta to His first 5 disciples of the Buddha attained Arahantship after listening to this sermon.

3) Our Mandarin Puja Service will be from 11.30am to 12.30pm today (14th July) with a Dhamma Talk on “Metta” by Sis Tan Yee Yong. Please invite your Mandarin speaking relatives and friends to join us. The gift of the Dhamma is the highest gift.

4) This morning’s Dhamma Talk will be given by Ven. Sayadaw U Rewata. Sayadaw U Rewata was born in 1955 in Thonse, Myanmar. He graduated in 1980 with Bachelor of Science at the Rangoon University. He was ordained in 1983. He followed Pariyatti and Patipatti under the guidance of Most Venerable Chanmyay Sayadaw U Janaka Bhivamsa. He has travelled widely to many countries like Japan, USA, Canada, India, etc for missionary work, teaching Metta Bhavana, Vipassana Bhavana, Suttanta Recitations, etc. He served as the Abbot in Hmawbi, Yangon in 2004 to 2006, and also has been the Abbot of the Satipatthana Vipassana Association, Springfield, USA. Sayadaw U Rewata is currently in Subang Jaya Buddhist Association to support its Dhamma missionary work.
